The Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens were established in 1886 as a part of the Old Sapporo Agricultural College. Don Quijote is nationwide chain of discount tax free stores. There are 160 stores throughout Japan, 13 of these being in Hokkaido. The Don Quijote chain, commonly called “Donki” is popular with locals, and especially for tourists. These stores sell anything and everything that you might need, and at tax free prices! The Sapporo store is located in the center of town, between Odori and Susukino subway stations and has 5 floors with which to choose from.
The first floor and entrance has a drugstore, cosmetics, hair products, medicine, mobile phones, and Japanese clothing. The tax free counter is also located on this floor.
The second floor has food, snacks, kitchen goods, cooking goods and men’s clothing.
The third floor has bicycles, car products, tools, weight products, furniture, travel goods, toys, airguns, DVDs, CD’s, TV’s, stereos, washing machines, refrigerators, and other electronics.
The fourth floor has perfumes, watches, bags, wallets, purses, shoes, luggage, incense, stuffed toys, adult toys, costumes, and fireworks.
The fifth floor has rental DVD’s and rental CD’s, playstations, video games for sale, second hand phones and ipads. To hire out DVD’s and CD’s customers need to make up a rental card.
