The Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens were established in 1886 as a part of the Old Sapporo Agricultural College. This popular steak house opened in 2015 and serves up a mouth watering selection of beef, lamb, pork, and chicken. It is a relatively small area which seats up to 42 people. It is recommended for 2 – 4 people. Sapporo Bone is open for lunch and dinners, the peak time being around 9pm. The menu is not in English but it is pictured and the friendly staff are more than happy to assist. Sapporo Bone has an open kitchen area so you can watch the cooks work their magic. It is a strange mix of old school cooking on grates over an open flame, BBQ style, but that’s what gives this place its charm and it certainly tastes great!
Sapporo Bone offers a fantastic wine choice! There are a couple of sparkling and white wines, but their main list (obviously) consists of a large range of red wines. Spanish, Italian, French, South African, Chilean, Argentine, American, New Zealand, and Australian wines are all on the menu, ranging from light to full bodied.
So, the wine is fantastic, the service is friendly, and the food is great! You can either order your choice of steaks, T-bone or rump steaks for as many grams as your heart desires. For couples or small groups the 5 meat or 3 meat tray is recommended so everyone can sample. The waiter will offer grated wasabi over the top of the beef which is a must! Pork, lamb, and chicken are also on the menu. Order your steak to your preference, but if you desire it more seared, Sapporo Bone offers heated charcoal tablets to cook your meat on! The side dishes consist of large salads, cheese platters, cured ham, anchovies and other goodness!
