This boutique, Japanese farm house has been renovated into gorgeous chalet with breathtaking views of Mt. Yotei. The chalet has been lovingly restored in an authentic Japanese style with all the modern comforts that will make your stay a unique experience. There are five bedrooms, a fully appointed kitchen with complimentary tea and coffee, laundry, dining area, living room with TV & games for entertainment, a tatami room plus two bathrooms.

Aspeila is a rest stop, a local market, souvenir shop, and restaurant all rolled into one. It can be easily found on route 230, which is the main road from Sapporo to Rusutsu. Just look for the large sign and two asparagus characters on the main building. It is a great spot to do some shopping for souvenirs or food, where you can buy a whole range of vegetables produced by local farmers. These delicious (and large) vegetables can be bought in bulk and for a great bargain! The greengrocers here makes up one part of Aspeila.

The souvenir shop also sells local foods famous in the area. There is also a restaurant and bathrooms here. It is here, at this restaurant, you can order some great udon or soba noodles. Alternatively, there is a delicious vegetable curry and rice, or a katsu curry (deep-fried cutlet of chicken or pork) that is on the menu. These meals are all under ¥1000 making them good value for money! To get here you will need your own transport, the drive taking about one and a half hours. There is a bus stop out the front, and the buses run from Sapporo station to Kimobetsu five times a day.

Rusutsu is famous for its ski field, resort and the outlying farmlands. These farm lands produce a large variety of fresh and delicious vegetables. Rusutsu is especially famous for its daikon (radish), asparagus (green, white & purple), and potatoes. Fresh vegetables of the season are delivered directly to Farmers’ Market, making it a popular place to buy groceries for a cheap price! This supermarket is connected right next to Rusutsu Pizza Do, so it’s also a good spot to grab some lunch.

The selection is quite vast, and each product is brought in by individual farmers. Anything from celery to chili peppers, every product has a picture of the farmer and information about them. It would be hard to find a better bargain in Hokkaido than at Farmer’s Market. Prices for cabbages, pumpkins, onions can be as little as ¥100, so there are many bargains to be found. Not are there vegetables to be found, but there are soups, seasoning, an assortment of breads, and flowers.

Rusutsu Pizza is a popular restaurant that is part of Rusutsu Furusato Park. It is also attached to the equally popular Rusutsu local supermarket. Rusutsu is not only well known for its ski fields and resort, but also for its local farm lands. The variety of vegetables produced from these farms are used to make these delicious pizzas. The restaurant has plenty of seating and offers views of Mt Sorioi. As it is on Rusutsu Furusato Park, it’s also a good place to take your order outdoors during summer and enjoy a picnic on the grass!

Rusutsu Pizza not only sells pizzas, but the menu also has pork and rice, udon noodles, and a selection of side dishes, such as fried potatoes and asparagus salad. And as with all restaurants, Rusutsu Pizza has the ever popular dessert menu. To order your pizza you can do so via an automatic ticket machine. The machine is in Japanese but photos are provided, simply use the touch screen to make your selection. Once you have inserted your money and get the printed ticket, take it to the kitchen counter to pick up your order.
