Mandai Sapporo is a huge second hand store. Their claim to this store is that you can ‘buy anything’ here, and they’re certainly not far off. It can be found on the main road (Ishiyama Dori) between Sapporo and the onsen town of Jozankei. It is recognizable by the two giant, classic movie poster murals out the front. One being ‘The Wolf Man’ and the other being ‘Amazing Stories’. With ample parking it in easy place to drop into. Once inside, there is an eclectic array of goods and products in bizarre little nooks and crannies. This store is especially interesting for those interested in Japanese goods, manga, and figurines.
So, what can you buy here? Almost anything. They have all kinds of second hand clothing from shoes all the way up to hats and accessories and everything in between. They have instruments, appliances, sporting gear, especially for winter sports and fishing. They have DVD’s, games for Playstations and Nintendo. You can find some real old school games here too, so good for collectors! Manga figures, manga, playing cards and replica air guns are also here. There is also an adult section with manga, movies and toys (not second hand luckily). The layout is maze like and this place is definitely an interesting spot to peruse.

| Location / Getting There | The park is a 25 minute drive south east from central Sapporo. The easiest way to get there is to take the E5 expressway heading to Eniwa. The park is on a turn off on the left. By foot, it is a 20 minute walk from Oyachi subway station (Tozai line). Atsubetsu Park & Stadium is a large park and venue that has sporting events throughout the year. The stadium holds up to 20,000 people and was constructed in 1980. The park is one of the few that not only has a stadium but also a training ground and running track. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium here acts as one of the home grounds for the Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo football team, with the other being Sapporo Dome. Other facilities at the stadium include a training room, exercise classes, plus an indoor running track.
Atsubetsu Park is not only home to the stadium and athletes, but it serves as a recreational space for the locals in the area. You can find this park a good place to take a stroll, or a run to keep fit. There is a track that surrounds the park. Others take advantage of the benches and grass area to relax. In the park, there is a memorial plaza, a wall fountain plus a large sculpture that pinpoints the main entrance. For those wishing to take the bus from the station, you can take the Chuo Bus 66, or 67. Get off at Hiraoka 9-jo 3-chome and walk for 5 minutes.
Sports, sports, sports! Looking for sporting gear? Chance are, you can find it at the Sports House. Convenient location right in the heart of Sapporo. This impressive seven story building is filled with all types of sporting gear and is a good first choice to check if they have what you need. Most of the gear here is for the large summer sports so there is not much winter gear for snowboarding or skiing. If you are lazy to come into town, they have online shopping so you can check the wares via their website. This website has membership as well!
