Sakanova is a Sapporo beer bar that can be found on the ground floor of the U’Slab building. The U’Slab building is made up of four restaurants, each with their own specific style of food, whether it be Asian or European. Sakanova is a casual and cozy bar that has an outside seating option which is fantastic during the warmer months. It is here you can enjoy some good beer with accompanying dishes. At this bar, there are some good bottled Hokkaido beers that are available to sip on. They also have some European beers as well.

The menu is in Japanese or English, so ordering is no problem. The menu has a Spanish flair with a lot of small dishes to try. You can dine on some seafood dishes such as anchovies, sardines, salmon or sea urchin. Think of these delicacies drizzled with olive oil with bread to mop up with. There are a few tofu dishes with added spice and some vegetarian dishes. Sakanova also has a delicious Thai curry which adds diversity to its menu. Meat dishes include duck, pork, and chicken, so there is plenty to choose from, not only for vegetarians but also those with carnivorous persuasions. Enjoy!

Ateniyoru is a Japanese restaurant that mixes primarily Japanese oden dishes accompanied with select sake and beer. Oden is a Japanese one-pot dish consisting of several ingredients such as boiled eggs, daikon, konjac, and processed fishcakes stewed in a light, soy-flavored dashi broth. For those who aren’t a big fan of oden, this is definitely still a place to try! Ateniyoru has an array of small dishes to make up a delicious lunch or dinner. The subtle and unique flavors at this restaurant are fantastic, especially if you are looking for a Japanese cuisine experience.

Unfortunately, the menu is only in Japanese, and there are only a few pictures so being with someone who has Japanese ability might be useful. The dishes are mainly seafood dishes plus the oden dishes. There is a great lunch menu, which is recommended, that is sea bream in sauce, plus an oden dish, pickles, flavored tofu, and an amazing tea strained through fish pieces that is used to poor on your rice bowl. Great Japanese cuisine! Ateniyoru also has a large selection of Japanese sake to go with their dishes. Ask their experienced and friendly staff which one to try!.

Ootoya is a nice, large restaurant located in the dining section of Maruyama class. Ootoya is a great option if you are looking for a big lunch or dinner at a reasonable price. For just under ¥1000 you can get a set meal with rice, a miso soup, a salad, and some vegetables! Most of the dishes are around this place which is a good bargain for some nice food. The spacious restaurant has plenty of seating, and is good for couples or groups. The menu is in Japanese only, but each dish is pictured, so it is easy to choose and order.

So, what is on the menu? At Ootoya, there is a lot to choose from! This restaurant has a selection of chicken dishes, such as a basil chicken or a fried chicken known as ‘zangi’ in Hokkaido. Other Japanese dishes include both soba and udon noodles, which both comes in a set. There are also fish and pork dishes that can be ordered. For a little extra, there are plenty of side dishes to go with your meal if need be. There is a separate kids meal for the young ones, plus if you are in a rush, then there take away packs to feast on later. With all the meals you can order beer, juices or spirits for dinner.

On the third floor of Maruyama Class, you can find some delicious restaurants. Bibi de Baru de Moon is an Italian restaurant serving up some delicious dishes. There is table dining as well as counter seating. At the counter, there are views of the open kitchen which is a nice touch. Watch as the pizzas are cooked to perfection in the wood fire stove. Baru de Moon is open for lunch, and for dinner, and after a good wander around the Maruyama area, this restaurant a good choice for either occasion.

Bibi de Baru de Moon has a lot to choose from in its menu. They have at least a dozen different pizzas to choose from. Their unique pizzas include traditional ingredients plus a variety of new ones. Take your pick of seafood, vegetables, and meat pizzas. As with the pizza dishes, there is a large selection of pasta dishes as well! Enjoy some tomato based, or cream based pastas such as the four cheese cream pasta which a delicious indulgence. There are also side dishes of sashimi, chicken, and salads. And while dining, don’t forgot the wine menu that has a selection of Italian wines!

Inzone Table is a fantastic cafe/restaurant located in the Maruyama area of Sapporo. It is part of a furniture chain in Sapporo, under the same name. While sitting in the comfortable surroundings, you can enjoy some great food and drink for a satisfying lunch! The two story restaurant can get busy, and it is recommended to call ahead to reserve a table. The tables are good not only for couples, but for large groups! The colorful menu consists of mainly stove cooked cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Accompanied with craft beer and a variety of wines makes for a good choice when eating out.

They have a skillet hot pot hamburg steak with cheese, spaghetti with crab, seafood, grilled Shiraoi steak, and a simmered chicken with tomato. Located in the Maruyama Class shopping center, Ren Ren Ren is a Chinese restaurant, which is a good spot to grab some lunch or dinner during the shopping day. The extensive menu has everything you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. Delicious dumplings, duck dishes, stir fried dishes, and a huge variety of noodle dishes, and fried rice plates. They also have some great special set meals, especially the spicy hot pot soup, the sweet & sour pork, or the chili prawns. The menu is in English and is pictured so it’s easy to choose your desired meal.
