The Kushiro Shitsugen National park (better known as the Kushiro Marshland) is a national park, located to the north of Kushiro on the eastern side of Hokkaido. The park is known for its wetlands ecosystems. 'Shitsugen' translates to wetlands in English. It was designated as a national park on 31 July 1987. If you are looking for a hearty meal, this is the place for you! Hokutosei restaurant serves up a delicious hamburger patty in a rich sauce with your liking of extras in typical Hokkaido fashion! Take your pick of toppings, from melted cheese, thick slices of bacon, egg or vegetables. The great thing about this place is that it’s an open kitchen, where you can watch the cooks prepare your meal. As each hamburg patty is cooked with shooting flames it makes for a great photo opportunity!

This is an extremely popular little restaurant. It has seating for 24 people, including counter space. If you are in bigger groups you may have to wait. For lunch and dinner it is worth the wait as the price is very affordable. Each hamburg patty is served in a hot (and i do mean HOT) ceramic pot, with a side order of rice, and although it may not look big, the dishes are surprisingly filling. These are rich hearty meals, perfect for a winters day!
