Amalfi is a really great place to check out while experiencing the nightlife of Sapporo. During the summer months, this nicely designed bar and restaurant has an opening out onto the street, making it a comfortable space to wine and dine. Amalfi serves as a bar and as a dining space. They have some really delicious food here, but first let’s look at the drink menu. Quite affordable, the drinks are well presented and mixed to perfection by the professional staff. They have a huge cocktail menu including a popular fruit iced cocktail. They also have spirits on ice, and beer

The food here is equally well presented. They have some really fantastic small dishes to nibble on and which compliments the drink. For oyster lovers, they have delicious fresh oysters on ice, plus dried tomatoes drizzled in olive oil, olives, and cheeses to name a few. If you are more peckish, Amalfi specializes in Italian cuisine. They have pastas and pizzas on the menu. There is counter seating for couples or for those on their own, plus there are booths for up to four people on one side of the bar, and out the back, there is more space for those wishing for a bigger party. Amalfi is definitely worth a visit if you are out of town. You won’t be disappointed.

The Craft is a fantastic craft beer bar and can be found right by the main crossroads the are the famous entry point into Susukino. They have over 2o different craft beers to enjoy. Ordering a sampler is a good idea!
The food here equally fantastic. There is a predominantly Italian flavor that serves up some great food. There are a lot of pastas, delicious Hokkaido oysters and here they have six kinds of fresh carpaccio, grilled mushrooms with prosciutto, and shrimp ajillo. The most famous dish here though is the Chicago pizza. Chicago Pizza is a pizza with a thick, high crust. The toppings are mixed together creating a filling and delicious pizza. Zanshin is a cool little bar in Susukino, Sapporo. It is particularly well known to snowboarders, skiers, and skateboarders. The staff here are and were semi pro skiers and snowboarders and definitely bring friendliness and some wildness to the bar! The Sapporo classic here on tap is ¥500 a glass (a little cheaper than most places), and the cocktails are the same. A lot of the patrons are regulars and the atmosphere is very laid back and fun. There is some counter seating plus a couple of couches and tables fro larger groups.
There is also a very small upstairs area that has room for sitting only. There are a couple of basic food dishes that the staff can cook up for you. This includes a nice curry and rice bowl. This bar opens quite late at 21:00 and kicks on to the early hours of the morning. It can get busy around 1:00 to 2:00 in the morning. The bar is on the 5th floor and is above the club ‘Riviera’ which is on the basement floor. After the club closes, many revelers tend to head up to Zanshin. This is a fun bar with great staff and cheap beer! A good night out.

Bar España is a very popular bar located in the centre of Susukino. It is also part of a small chain run by a friendly local businessman. The other bar being the equally popular Bar España Carne. The bar is on the main street that runs through the nightlife district. It is usually full and bustling with those on a night out on the town. They have some great Spanish wines here plus cocktails and beer on tap. There is an ‘all you can drink’ option if need be. The bar is also popular because of the Spanish cuisine served up here. For those who enjoy a good paella, the paella here won an award back in 2018.
The food here is quite good. Other dishes of note include raw oysters from the Sakai family. These oysters from Akkeshi are popular winter speciality at Espana. Perfect to go with both wine and beer. More Spanish dishes include Iberian grilled pork, a classic dish ahijo (shrimp and garlic boiled in olive oil), grilled mushrooms with prosciutto ham, and a Spanish omelette. The layout is nice but small. For those in groups of four or more it is a good idea to book in advance. For couples it makes for a great date spot. Bar Espana is a must try especially in the warmer months with their outside seating. Disfrutar!

This bar has been around for a long time and has been a popular spot over the many years. The bars name is based on the Blade Runner movie (based on the book ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’) The big draw card for this spot is the great views down over Sapporo. The bar is located on the 9th floor with large windows overlooking the night scene, all the way down route 36 (a main street separating Susukino and Odori). The night views plus the beautifully presented cocktails make this bar a popular date spot. A lot of the patronage here are on the younger side (mostly in the early twenties). They have party plans and an ‘all you can drink’ option as well.
There is window seating, counter seating and table seating (for up to about four people so not great for big groups). There are so many fantastic cocktails on the menu you can try something new. They have some interesting variations on your favorite drinks such as the mango mojito, kiwi martini, or running with the Blade Runner theme, they have a ‘Blade Runner’ and a ‘Replicant’ drink. The staff are friendly and keep the bar running along. The food here is also good! They have some Spanish style dishes such prosciutto, shrimp ajillo, or fires with chili beans. Electric Sheep Bar is a great bar to check out in Sapporo.

Notes | High end cocktail bar, sit down charge, seating 30 |
Location | Sapporo, Susukino. The bar is just a 2 minute walk from Susukino subway station. Take exit 1 and head east along Tsukisamu-dori (route 36) 2 blocks. The bar is on the left. 〒064-0804 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo Ward, Minami 4 Jonishi, 2 Chome-14-2 Central S4 Building 1st floor |
Bar Waduro is a high end cocktail bar. For those with a bit of money to sip on some professionally made drinks, Bar Waduro is in a convenient location. There are a huge amount of drinks to choose from and each the menu is organized into liquor bases. They have whiskey (both bourbon and scotch), vodka, tequila, gin, rum, and assorted shochu and sake. You can either enjoy a drink straight or on the rocks, or try one of the cocktails. These cocktails are superb and are worth the money. The menu however is only in Japanese so be best to have some kind of translating device or a translator.
When going here, be observant that the final bill may be more than expected. There is a sit down charge here (which comes with a small bowl of nuts), and that charge is ¥1000 per person. This is an expensive charge that is added onto any drink ordered. There are a few food items to nibble on and to add to the drinking experience. Overall, the drinks made here are second to none (the martini is particularly good), but the cost may put some revelers off. This bar is a suitable for a special occasion and sampling one or two different drinks before moving on elsewhere.
