Yama Arashi is a popular ramen store in Hiragishi. It is not a far walk from Toyohira River. It is the main store of three ramen stores of the same company. The other being Yamarashi Black Tiger Ramen, which is in central Sapporo and there is also Tenjo Tenge Ryuga Dokuso, which is on the way to Jozankei. The main store Yama Arashi, has a good selection of ramen dishes. All of Yamaarashi’s ramen is made from Hokkaido ingredients the soup uses only carefully selected pork from Hokkaido. The broth is made from pork loin and the soup is boiled for 10 hours and then soaked in a special sauce. The end result is a great and delicious ramen.

This is a small ramen restaurant in the south western area of Sapporo. It is just a three minute drive past Sapporo Dome. The restaurant is just off Hitsujigaoka Dori Avenue and is also across from Sapporo International University as well as Sapporo Kokusai Daigaku Museum. To order at this store, as with most ramen stores, there is an ordering machine near the entrance. Simply put in your money and push your selected item. The buttons are only in Japanese so its recommended to have someone who speaks Japanese (if you don’t), or an app on your phone. The ramen here is not overly exceptional, and has slightly above average ratings, but you get a lot for your dollar.
At Ramen 296, you can order your standard shio (salt), miso, or shoyu ramen. Plus they have variants on these dishes. The Kiyota Ramen dish seems to be the most popular and is their flagship dish. Extras can be ordered to on your dish. Plus there are soba noodles which can be ordered as a side dish or own its own.

Haruichiya Sandaime Menjuku is a large ramen restaurant in Hiragishi in the eastern district of Sapporo. It is along the busy road of Shiroishi Nakanoshima avenue and is very close to Tsukisamu Park. This ramen restaurant specializes in four deiffrent kinds of oils that they use to enhance the flavor of the broth. There is ‘shrimp oil’ for a couple of the dishes, a ‘spicy oil’ for miso ramen, ‘hydrangea oil’ for salt ramen and the last being ‘katsuo oil’. All of them are homemade using carefully selected ingredients, and are used properly according to the characteristics of the soup and sauce.
For the eggs used as a topping for the ramen, Hokkaido selected eggs are use. They are soaked in a special soy sauce overnight and are half boiled to accentuate the taste. The broth is also handmade using Hokkaido ingredients and each dish uses different flavors to create a well rounded menu. There are around eight ramen dishes on the menu to choose from. these include your typical salt, miso, and soy ramen based dishes. Plus they also have a spicy miso ramen, or a couple of shrimp ramens. There are extras to be added if need be, and they have some side dishes, such as a Chinese dumpling dish.

Keimimansai is a very good ramen restaurant on the main street in Susukino, Sapporo. It is a late night ramen shop as well, making it a nice place to stop at on the way home after a night out. It is right next to Rad Brothers making it easy to find! There are eleven different ramen dishes here which is a good selection for a ramen store. They have chicken flavored ramen, beef tendon ramen, boiled egg ramen, kimchi ramen, and natto ramen to name a few! The ramen here isn deliccious and affordable. You can get some great deals here too!
Ramen is very filling on its own but here you can find some fantastic set meals. The set meals are a bowl of ramen with a side dish and a bowl of rice. Some of the side dishes you get with your ramen include fried chicken and rice (fried chicken set), chinese dumplings and rice(gyoza set), fried rice (half fried rice set), or the rice with nori and wasabi (mini mountain wasabi bowl combination). These set meals are all around the ¥1000 mark. There is also a counter where you can add some extra toppings for free! This ramen store is definitely a good restaurant to check out while in Susukino.

Ramen Gojogen is a nice little ramen store in the western suburbs of Sapporo. This ramen store sells a variety of ramen dishes plus they also sell delicious rice balls that go well with any dish. The rice balls are big and are served with pickled vegetables. They are also packed with flavor. When it comes to the ramen, there are about half a dozen different ramen dishes. Naturally they have the basic salt, miso, and soy sauce based soups. Gojogen also have their own dishes unique to this store.
They have a spicy ramen dish that adds a punch to the flavor and is suited for those who like the burn. There is also a ‘Tsubame Sanjo Ramen’. This bowl is served with thick noodles and topped with bean sprouts, onions, and iwanori seaweed. Another popular ramen bowl is the garlic and soy sauce bowl. To get to the ramen shop, you can simply take the local tram line and get off at Higashihonganji-Mae Station. For those driving they have a small parking area to use.

Sanpachi Ramen is a big chain of ramen stores. The restaurants can predominately found in Sapporo, with eleven stores. Other ramen restaurants can be found in the town of Kutchan, Abashiri, Wakkanai, and the central city of Asahikawa. For those locations, see the maps at the end of the article. This large chain has the standard ramen dishes of miso, soy sauce, and shio (salt). The pork is not sliced like most other ramen restaurants, but diced into delicious pieces. Other styles include fried vegetable ramen, or a spicy hot ramen dish. Extras can be ordered.
Whatever dish you choose, they always present it with their signature ‘sanpachi’ fish cake on top. Ramen is never too expensive and Sanpachi is no exception. All the dishes are within the ¥1000 mark so you can get a filling dinner or lunch at a cheap price! The restaurants have a drink menu as well. There is soft drink as well as beer to be had. For those trying ramen for the first time, the miso always seems to be a favorite of most people, and be prepared for big servings. Ramen is filling to say the least but a favorite among locals especially. Enjoy!
