Kani Honke is a successful chain of crab restaurants that are located throughout Japan. In Hokkaido, you can find two of these restaurants in Sapporo city. One being two blocks from Sapporo station. The other being on the main street running through Susukino (the entertainment district). Both these crab restaurants cater for tourists as well locals. They have Chinese speaking staff as well as menus in various languages. The restaurants have multiple levels, so there is plenty of room for large groups! Boiled snow crab!

There are various crab dishes on offer, of different sizes. All contain succulent crab meat that will wow any guest. You can order individual dishes or go for the large group dishes. They have mouth watering snow crab or king crab on the menu. Some of the recommended dishes include boiled snow crab with vinegar, steam crab dumplings, or the butter roasted king crab to name a few. There is also ‘Kanishabu’ or ‘Kanisuki’ which is crab cooked in a broth in or without its shell. With the fried crab, the waitress will cook it for you on a grill which is a nice touch. And of course, to go with your selection of crab dishes, there is a selcetion of beer, wine, or Japanese sake!

Using seasonal Hokkaido ingredients, Jinbei is a delicious seafood restaurant that can be found in Paseo West dining. Here you can enjoy delicious seafood cuisine in Japanese style. You can dine on a large selection of succulent sashimi, or why not try the tasty ikura (salmon roe), or if you have never tried uni (sea urchin), then here is your chance! Jinbei also has salads, grilled fish, grilled crab, and if you don’t prefer seafood, then there are some meat dishes of ham, fried chicken, and cooked mutton. For drinks there is a selection of beers and soft drinks, Japanese sake and some excellent plum and yuzu wine! Maruuyima Restaurant SapporoMarumiya Restaurant is a large Izakaya (Japanese restaurant) that specializes in Hokkaido cuisine. Located conveniently, right near Sapporo station, its a great place to try out some Japanese cuisine. Open until early morning you can try out Hokkaido cooking, including crab, salmon roe, mackerel, tempura, sea urchin, sashimi, just to name a few. The drink menu serves up beer, soft drinks, wines, and a variety of Shochu and Japanese sake!

There is seating for up to 250 people, and there are private dining rooms for large groups! The menu is in a variety of languages plus pictures, so it’s easy to choose your dish. Marumiya uses local ingredients, so the menu changes with the seasons! There is an all you can drink, and an all you can eat menu, plus a set menu with a little bit of everything. Whether it be a long day of shopping,  an evening after some Sapporo sightseeing, or even after a late flight in, Maruyima is the place to go!
