For those who enjoy their sake, Fuu is a top spot to visit. Fuu is a Japanese izakaya located in Susukino on the basement floor. It is a large restaurant and bar with counter seating, small private booths, and large rooms for special occasions. It’s one of the few places that has an ‘all you can drink’ that has Nishon-shu (sake) on the menu. For around ¥2500 you can taste a large selection of different sakes from all over Japan! A real bargain. And if you don’t like sake, then they do have bottles of Sapporo classic included. The sake menu is written only in Japanese unfortunately so you will need someone who can read Japanese or have an app that can explain the different types of ske you can pick from.

While sampling your sake, you can enjoy some good Japanese cuisine for the full experience. Whats better than sipping on some sake with some nice seafood. At Fuu, they have an abundance of dishes to choose from. They have sushi, sashimi, fish, salads plus a selection of side dishes. At Fuu, the staff are very helpful and can assist you in your choice of sake. The decor is simple and wooden, and darkly lit giving off a nice atmosphere. Fuu is a great place to check out especially if you want to try a variety of different sakes.

For a night out on the town in Obihiro most of the bars and restaurants are on the north side of Obihiro Station. Walking the streets you will come across Tokachi No Nagaya & Kitanoyatai. These narrow streets cover two blocks and seem to be one of the most popular areas for the locals. Lining the streets are around forty small bars, izakayas, and restaurants. They are all quite compact and can fit up to around twelve people (some even have standing space only). Each bar is unique and as you walk down the street you can see and hear the revelers enjoying a good night out on the town.

The compact shops at Kita no Yatai and Tokachi no Nagaya serve locally brewed sake and the food here is fantastic. You can find dishes made from the fresh produce of Tokachi. One of the great things about these bars is that they are open all year and can be enjoyed in any weather. They have covers to keep the warmth in winter and are opened out during the summer. There is a great atmosphere throughout the streets and is a great Japanese experience. These streets are a must see while in Obihiro and worth more than one visit to enjoy all the bars and restaurants!

The staff and the owner are very friendly and welcoming. This place seems to be a hidden popular go to place for the locals, especially for those who want to unwind after a day at work. The background jazz music really adds to the atmosphere. It is a small place, and it is a smoking establishment, so be warned for those who don’t want to be in a smoky bar.
