Smile Garden Cafe can be found in the Parlor Fukuda building. It is a large restaurant that happily serves up lunch to the visitors and guests of the Lake Toya Onsen area. Being in the centre of town it is easily to drop in while seeing the sights, and enjoying the area. This restaurant also serves as the entrance to the classic car gallery next door, simply ask the friendly staff. This large restaurant has plenty of seating and is good for families or large groups.

The restaurant has pictures and has English translations making it easy to order your meal. The menu has mainly rice and pasta dishes such as delicious rice curries, chicken doria (a Japanese style casserole dish with cream sauce), pilafs, and pizzas. The lunch set menu has three options which comes with a drink, a salad, and a chocolate cake dessert! You can savor your meal in homely surroundings. The area of Maruyama, located in west Sapporo, is a beautiful hilly suburb that leads up into the mountains. Throughout the residential there are some unique and cozy coffee shops that are the perfect place to enjoy tea, coffee & lunch in a nice atmosphere. Maruyama Cafe Saka Noue is one of the highest coffee shops up in the hills of Maruyama and has some nice views down over the area. Due to its location, the best way to get there would be to drive, or take a taxi from Maruyama subway station.

Maruyama Cafe Saka Noue has some delicious lunches on its menu. The menu is only in Japanese though there are pictures to help you choose. The lunch menu has a quiche set, a prosciutto and avocado muffin set, a keema curry, and a seafood gratin set. The coffee menu is extensive, as is the tea menu. With at least half a dozen teas to choose from, you can really enjoy a quiet cuppa. The lunch set comes with a salad and a drink which includes a tea or coffee or soft drink, which is well presented with an artistic flair.

After taking in the sights of Lake Toya and are looking for a nice place to have a coffee, lunch, or dinner, or even a few drinks, then look no further than Toya Arts & Crafts. They are located across from Select 108 shopping and the Toya Tourist Hotel. Toya Art & Craft use local, seasonal ingredients that are combined to make some simply mouth watering dishes. They have a mix of different cultural dishes, including an Indian Spicy Pork Curry, Seafood Bouillabaisse, Roast Chicken, a Sashimi Seafood Bowl (from Friday to Sunday), or the Farmers Seasonal Salad Bowl. All ingredients are locally grown and fresh.

As the name suggests, Toya Art & Crafts focuses on local craft blended with good local produce, wine & coffee. On the western coast of Hokkaido, along the scenic coastal drive on route 231, you can find the Road Station Ishikari, and the Atsuta Museum. There are two places to stop at, one being the Ai Road Yuhinooka Rest Stop which is an older building with free coffee and “bentos” (lunch box sets). The Ishikari Road Station is the more recent, modern and larger building is on the opposite side of the road from the Yuhinooka Rest Stop. It has three floors that contains a souvenir store, a museum, a food court, and an observation deck to take in views of the coastline.

The small museum has information on the surrounding flora and fauna. With miniatures, small exhibits, and photographs, its an interesting place to have a wander around. For those wanting to grab a bite to eat, there are a couple of food stalls on the middle floor. The ‘Ishikari Fumiichi’ store has a few fish meals, Chinese dumplings, and beers to buy. ‘Home’ is a bakery & pizza restaurant that has delicious pastries, pizzas, and fresh juices available. And the popular ‘Gelato Lico Lico’ sells (you guessed it) gelatos. Simply order your meal from the vending machines and go to the counter. There are plenty of tables to rest, eat, and drink.
