Soiree is a pretty interesting cafe and diner on a corner in northern Sapporo. It is run by a nice elderly couple. Although they speak no English they are very friendly and accommodating. This cafe is reminiscent of those old sixties diners. They have large counter seating plus some small tables lining the windows that face the street. They have blinds instead of curtains which creates the scene. It is not a really easy coffee shop to access and most of their clientele will be regulars who live in the area. They have some nice cafe food here and decent coffee. Smoking is allowed here, hence the sixties feel. On the menu, there are some pastas, hamburger steaks, plus fried chicken and curries. Each dish looks pretty appetizing! This is an old cafe but the layout and style makes it for a cool dining experience. Enjoy!
The coffees here are sufficient. The best thing about this place is the food and the atmosphere. The coffee is cheap and the lunch sets are affordable. You are looking at around ¥1000 which is a good price for a lunch or dinner.

Perch is a great homely coffee shop in Sapporo. It has been set up in one of the houses in area and serves not only as a cafe, but as a bar and also as an arts and crafts store! On the first floor there are comfortable chairs plus tables for larger groups, and a kitchen area where the friendly owner cooks up some nice lunches and homemade desserts. For lunch or dinners they have pastas, smoked sausages, and a delicious keema curry. There is also a selection of spirits and wines if you are looking for something stronger than coffee.

The desserts here are fantastic. The caramel pudding is homemade, as well as the cheesecake. Both are equally delicious and are the perfect accompaniment to a nice cup of coffee or tea. As well as the dining area, there is a tatami room as well that has some nice handmade crafts for sale. A nice little Japanese touch to the place. On the 2nd floor you can find some more items, handmade dolls and cups and saucers, plus Japanese memorabilia to purchase. Perch is a nice cafe/bar and is very affordable making it a good place for a quiet lunch or dinner or it even serves as a party venue for large groups if need be!

This coffee shop is great spot for lunch. A lot of the seating here is catered for couples or for small groups of up to four.
There are quite a lot of nice coffees here to enjoy. The small windows here overlook the main road but there is a large forest area that overlooks the cafe offering some greenery. There is counter seating down the bottom as well. There are a few items on sale here including cups and some t-shirts to buy. Out the back, you can find more of these goods. If you have driven here, there is a small parking area which caters for about six cars. This is a comfortable cafe with good food and is one of many in the near area.

Cafe Terzina is located in the The Nordic Winds Tobetsu road station. This building is designed in a European fashion, emulating Sweden which the town has a close friendship with. Within this large hall, you can find places to shop and a few places to eat. The other small eateries (Smile Cafe & Restaurant Ari) are for take away and smaller dishes. Cafe Terzina is a larger Italian restaurant with nice views over the farmlands through the large windows. It is a “relaxing environment in Sapporo but far enough away to forget the city”. Cafe Terzina serves up some well priced Italian pastas using seasonal ingredients from Tobetsu.

The restaurant is headed by a Japanese chef, who in 1991, moved to Venice, Italy. He is a big advocate of “Hokkaido Italian cuisine” using Hokkaido ingredients. The menu here has a great lunch menu which has three choices. A casual lunch which is a main dish with bread. The A course which also comes with an appetizer platter. And the B course which comes with the appetizer platter and a dessert. They have some nice pastas, plus a famed baked risotto. The desserts here are also have an Italian flair. You can find all this for under ¥2000 so it’s a good bargain. And after lunch, you can walk around the area and do a little gift shopping.

Salvatore Cuomo is a famous celebrity chef in Japan. He was born in Naples, Italy in 1972 to an Italian father and a Japanese mother. He has been credited with catapulting Neapolitan pizza to fame in Japan. Another claim to fame is the large wood fire pizza oven that is a prominent feature in the restaurants. Today he operates and supervises more than 77 Pizza Salvatore restaurants throughout the country. There are two of these in Hokkaido and they are both in Sapporo. One being right near Sapporo Station and next to Yodobashi Camera. The other is in the Susukino district.
At the Salvatore Cuomo restaurants they have, obviously, a large selection of pizzas. These are cooked in the iconic wood fire oven. There is also a buffet style course that gives diners a selection of pizzas, pastas and salads to choose from. The other option is to choose just a set meal. This comes with a salad and drink. At these restaurants they have party plans. These range from ¥2500 to ¥4500 per person and include an all you can drink plan plus a variety of dishes. These restaurants were hugely popular when they first opened and continue to be a good spot to get some lunch or dinner.
