Hola

Located in Paseo Dining on the B1 floor, Mexican Dish Sombrero Mexicano is a nice little Mexican restaurant that is especially good for lunch during a busy day shopping. This is only one of a couple of Mexican restaurants through out Sapporo, if you are so inclined for some Mexican cuisine. This restaurant serves up, as you would expect, a selection of tacos, burritos, fajitas, spicy chili beans and enchiladas (which are particularly good). Fries, salads, and wrap rolls are also on the menu. The spiciness level is represented by a chili icon. Sombrero Mexicano also has a selection of Mexican beers you can enjoy with your meal. Of course, the obligatory Corona beer, plus Tecate beer, Sol, and a good Negra Modelo dark beer. à la flambé

If you are looking for a hearty meal, this is the place for you! Hokutosei restaurant serves up a delicious hamburger patty in a rich sauce with your liking of extras in typical Hokkaido fashion! Take your pick of toppings, from melted cheese, thick slices of bacon, egg or vegetables. The great thing about this place is that it’s an open kitchen, where you can watch the cooks prepare your meal. As each hamburg patty is cooked with shooting flames it makes for a great photo opportunity!

Chefs doing their thing

This is an extremely popular little restaurant. It has seating for 24 people, including counter space. If you are in bigger groups you may have to wait. For lunch and dinner it is worth the wait as the price is very affordable. Each hamburg patty is served in a hot (and i do mean HOT) ceramic pot, with a side order of rice, and although it may not look big, the dishes are surprisingly filling. These are rich hearty meals, perfect for a winters day!

Appetizer

The menu has a vast array of set dishes, ‘all you can eat’ sets with varying amounts of vegetables and meats. Of course, the better cut the meat, the more expensive the set will be. The prices run from ¥5000 – ¥10 000. The sets include thin strips of beef, minced pork, vegetables, and dipping sauces. A small entree of pork and seafood comes before the meal. There is also a seafood set, that comes with crab, squid, and fish. If you are not interested in the beef or the seafood set then you can order everything individually.

Shabu Shabu

Do it yourself!

The waitress will setup the large pot in the middle of the table, and get you started with vegetables and mushrooms. The rest is up to you! Add whatever you want, when you want. For the best reults, the trick is to drape the thin slice of meat 3 times into the boiling water or dashi (broth) and then dip it into one of the sauces. Delicious! Though the meat is thin, it is surprisingly filling! There is a large selection of wines, and drinks, and sake to go with your meal. Shabu Shabu is a great Japanese experience for the traveler and is a must try.
