The Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens were established in 1886 as a part of the Old Sapporo Agricultural College. Chapeau Rouge (red hat) is a rice & omelette restaurant. Omelette & rice dishes, better known as ‘Om Rice’ is a popular dish in Japan. There are many kinds of ‘Om Rice’ restaurants throughout Hokkaido. Chapeau Rouge is a typical om rice restaurant which serves up omelettes & rice, with a garnish of some kind. It is a quick and easy spot to grab some lunch or dinner. The menu has many kinds of omelettes, including the herb chicken (pictured above), curry, hamburger patty, and the bacon & tomato omelette and rice.
Chapeau Rouge, has a set menu as well which includes a small green salad, and a cup of onion soup. There are also a couple of spaghetti dishes thrown into the mix as well. The dishes are very basic, as they are affordable, making Chapeau Rouge a quick and convenient spot to recharge the batteries whilst in the shopping district at Sapporo station.
