Fugetsu is part of a huge chain of Okonomiyaki stores that are found throughout Hokkaido. As with other okonomiyaki restaurants, you can cook it yourself on the hotplates that are in the restaurant. Simply order your ingredients, and then mix them in the bowl. After making a thick paste, pour it onto the hotplate and cook both sides, like a pancake. Simply top it of with fish flakes, mayonnaise, and shaved green dried seaweed. Beer and soft drinks are available to go with. Located in Asabu, (the last stop on the Nanboku line) its an easy restaurant to find for a nice lunch or late dinner. Enjoy!

Ateniyoru is a Japanese restaurant that mixes primarily Japanese oden dishes accompanied with select sake and beer. Unfortunately, the menu is only in Japanese, and there are only a few pictures so being with someone who has Japanese ability might be useful. The dishes are mainly seafood dishes plus the oden dishes. There is a great lunch menu, which is recommended, that is sea bream in sauce, plus an oden dish, pickles, flavored tofu, and an amazing tea strained through fish pieces that is used to poor on your rice bowl. Great Japanese cuisine! Ateniyoru also has a large selection of Japanese sake to go with their dishes. Ask their experienced and friendly staff which one to try!.

Sapporo Ginrin is a Japanese restaurant located in the popular shopping center, Stellar Place. The sixth floor of Stellar Place is home to a dozen delicious restaurants, and being directly above Sapporo Station there are some nice views overlooking the plaza, especially in the evening. Sapporo Ginrin has a large selection of seafood. The sushi and sashimi is recommended. Being a Japanese style restaurant, you can order a variety of small dishes so you can savor more than just one dish.

Other dishes on the select menu include fresh shrimp, sea urchin, caviar, noodles, salads, and soups, just to name a few. If you enjoy a nice drop of wine, then Sapporo Ginrin won’t fail to please. They have a choice of a variety of wines, both foreign and local. Beer is also on the menu, as well as soft drinks for the kids. To make sure you get window seating, it’s a good idea to book ahead, especially for dinner. With its convenient location, and being open until late at night, Sapporo Ginrin makes a good spot for lunch and dinner.

Kitamaru is a Japanese Izakaya, located in the dining area of Paseo West. There are a large selection of Japanese dishes on the menu. The lunch menu has a selection of fried chicken, tempura, sushi and a variety of sashimi, noodles, a pork dish, and a fish dish to name a few. The lunch menus typically come with rice, a miso soup, and some pickled vegetables. The vegetables are seasonal and come from the local farmlands around Sapporo. Located in Paseo Dining, this restaurant is close to all the shopping areas which is a plus.

Kitamaru restaurant has beer, a huge selection of highball drinks, cocktails, whiskey, Japanese sake, plus soft drinks. The izakaya is a large area with plenty of seating, they also have private rooms, whether it be for large parties, or for just a cozy dinner for two. For events for groups, it is better to book ahead (this can be done via their website). So, while in the Sapporo station area, and are looking for a Japanese style lunch, or dinner, Kitamaru is worth a look!

Vegetable tempura
Tempura is a delicious Japanese dish usually consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. As part of the Stellar Place Dining area, Tempura Ginza is the perfect spot to have some authentic Japanese cuisine. There is plenty to choose from on the menu, whether it be seafood tempura, or the vegetable tempura. The menu is in English and it has some explanations on what garnish is best with the tempura. There are two dipping sauces to choose from, being either a soy sauce with sugar, or a soy sauce with salt. These sauces are recommended for the vegetable tempura. For the fish and shrimp tempura, salt is recommended as a garnish. After ordering your meal, the tempura dishes are made in front of the customers at a large counter. For drinks, tea is offered free of charge, and on the menu, you can order juices or alcohol, including sake.

The Sakura Restaurant is a pleasant Western & Japanese style restaurant, that also serves as a gallery and an arts & crafts store! It is located just down the hill from Asahiyama Zoo and the perfect spot to grab some lunch or dinner. With plenty of room, customers are free to wander around and look at the restaurants arts & crafts that are on sale. Suitable for couples or large groups (for large groups, reservations are required). Sakura restaurant also has nice views, in any season, overlooking its well manicured gardens.

This restaurant has both western style dishes and Japanese dishes on its very affordable menu! With lunch sets at less than ¥1000 yen, its a delicious bargain. The hamburg set is one of the most popular dishes, which is 100% Japanese beef delivered directly from Okada farm. Other dishes include seafood and chicken curries, Japanese and Western style pizzas, and for dessert, ice-creams and cakes.
