Vegetable tempura
Tempura is a delicious Japanese dish usually consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. As part of the Stellar Place Dining area, Tempura Ginza is the perfect spot to have some authentic Japanese cuisine. There is plenty to choose from on the menu, whether it be seafood tempura, or the vegetable tempura. There are special sets that come with miso soup, rice, pickled vegetables, sashimi, and Japanese egg custard depending on your choice of meal!

Ladies set
The menu is in English and it has some explanations on what garnish is best with the tempura. There are two dipping sauces to choose from, being either a soy sauce with sugar, or a soy sauce with salt. These sauces are recommended for the vegetable tempura. For the fish and shrimp tempura, salt is recommended as a garnish. After ordering your meal, the tempura dishes are made in front of the customers at a large counter. For drinks, tea is offered free of charge, and on the menu, you can order juices or alcohol, including sake.

The Sakura Restaurant is a pleasant Western & Japanese style restaurant, that also serves as a gallery and an arts & crafts store! It is located just down the hill from Asahiyama Zoo and the perfect spot to grab some lunch or dinner. With plenty of room, customers are free to wander around and look at the restaurants arts & crafts that are on sale. This restaurant has both western style dishes and Japanese dishes on its very affordable menu! With lunch sets at less than ¥1000 yen, its a delicious bargain. The hamburg set is one of the most popular dishes, which is 100% Japanese beef delivered directly from Okada farm. Other dishes include seafood and chicken curries, Japanese and Western style pizzas, and for dessert, ice-creams and cakes. Kyushu Tavern Fuuri is a Japanese style izakaya located in Paseo dining area, Sapporo. They have a good selection of Japanese dishes whether it be for single meals or for large parties. If you are looking for more than a nice lunch or quiet dinner, then there are rooms available for parties, where banquet courses are available. The banquet course, depending on price, has from seven to nine different courses. There are ‘nomihodai’ all you can drink plans included. Side dish of cold soba noodles
Fukuzumi is a soba restaurant that is set out in a traditional Japanese setting. Soba is a traditional thin buckwheat noodle served either hot or cold. Fukuzumi serves up some delicious Japanese dishes with soba noodles as a set dish. The menu comes in Japanese with pictures, as well as an English menu that has information about Soba noodles. Fukuzumi can be found across from Nakajima Park, which makes it a good spot to grab some lunch after some sightseeing in the park.

Tonkatsu is a delicious Japanese dish which consists of a breaded, deep fried pork cutlet. There are two main types, fillet and loin. It is often served with shredded cabbage. Tonkatsu Wako is a chain of Tonkatsu restaurants throughout the whole of Japan. There are five of these stores located in inner Sapporo and one on the coast in Tomakomai. All of these popular restaurants have the same mouth watering dishes on their menus, and at the same prices, so while in Hokkaido, be sure to drop in to Tonkatsu Wako for a tasty lunch or dinner.

Fried shrimp and crab croquette
The menu not only has deep fried pork cutlets, but also a variety of deep fried, seafood dishes. There is the deep fried shrimp or a nice deep fried crab meat croquette. Deep fried chicken is also on the menu! All the tonkatsu dishes come with a sauce (similar to that of a thick worcestershire sauce) and ‘karashi’ which is a hot mustard paste, exactly the same as a good hot english mustard. Tonkatsu dishes all come with rice, a miso soup and pickled vegetables to complete a perfect meal.

Beef stew
Rikyu Gyutan is a beef restaurant that specializes in grilled beef tongue. Nothing like trying something new! This unusual dish has been on Japanese menus for well over fifty years. There are two Rikyu Gyutan restaurants in Sapporo, one in Paseo West right by Sapporo station, the other is in the Aka Renga terrace building right next to the Former Hokkaido Government Office. Gytutan (beef tongue) dishes come in a variety of dishes, in stews, curries, or as steaks. There are set menus available as well!
