Kyushu Tavern Fuuri is a Japanese style izakaya located in Paseo dining area, Sapporo. They have a good selection of Japanese dishes whether it be for single meals or for large parties. This large restaurant has an extensive menu that has set meals that come with a miso soup and salad. If you are looking for more than a nice lunch or quiet dinner, then there are rooms available for parties, where banquet courses are available. The banquet course, depending on price, has from seven to nine different courses. There are ‘nomihodai’ all you can drink plans included. Side dish of cold soba noodles
Fukuzumi is a soba restaurant that is set out in a traditional Japanese setting. Soba is a traditional thin buckwheat noodle served either hot or cold. Fukuzumi serves up some delicious Japanese dishes with soba noodles as a set dish. The menu comes in Japanese with pictures, as well as an English menu that has information about Soba noodles. Tonkatsu is a delicious Japanese dish which consists of a breaded, deep fried pork cutlet. There are two main types, fillet and loin. It is often served with shredded cabbage. Tonkatsu Wako is a chain of Tonkatsu restaurants throughout the whole of Japan. There are five of these stores located in inner Sapporo and one on the coast in Tomakomai. All of these popular restaurants have the same mouth watering dishes on their menus, and at the same prices, so while in Hokkaido, be sure to drop in to Tonkatsu Wako for a tasty lunch or dinner.

Fried shrimp and crab croquette
The menu not only has deep fried pork cutlets, but also a variety of deep fried, seafood dishes. There is the deep fried shrimp or a nice deep fried crab meat croquette. Deep fried chicken is also on the menu! All the tonkatsu dishes come with a sauce (similar to that of a thick worcestershire sauce) and ‘karashi’ which is a hot mustard paste, exactly the same as a good hot english mustard. Tonkatsu dishes all come with rice, a miso soup and pickled vegetables to complete a perfect meal.

Beef stew
Rikyu Gyutan is a beef restaurant that specializes in grilled beef tongue. Nothing like trying something new! This unusual dish has been on Japanese menus for well over fifty years. There are two Rikyu Gyutan restaurants in Sapporo, one in Paseo West right by Sapporo station, the other is in the Aka Renga terrace building right next to the Former Hokkaido Government Office. Gytutan (beef tongue) dishes come in a variety of dishes, in stews, curries, or as steaks. There are set menus available as well!

Gomasoba Yakumo is a popular chain of soba noodle restaurants in Hokkaido. There are 6 locations in downtown Sapporo, with 3 more stores located in Shin-Sapporo, New Chitose Airport, and Kita-Hiroshima. The menus in each of these stores is pretty much the same. Kushiro Fukutei Kateirou is a delicious Japanese cuisine restaurant located on the 8th floor of the Parco department store. Kushiro is a city located on the south-east coast of Hokkaido and is famous for its fishing and its seafood. Kushiro Fukutei Kateirou has a good selection of Japanese food, especially its seafood. These dishes can be ordered as a set menu or individually. There is plenty of seating in a nicely designed space, with a dozen seats with window seating. There is counter seating as well, with views into the kitchen.
