Kushiro Fukutei Kateirou is a delicious Japanese cuisine restaurant located on the 8th floor of the Parco department store. Kushiro is a city located on the south-east coast of Hokkaido and is famous for its fishing and its seafood. Kushiro Fukutei Kateirou has a good selection of Japanese food, especially its seafood. These dishes can be ordered as a set menu or individually. There is plenty of seating in a nicely designed space, with a dozen seats with window seating. There is counter seating as well, with views into the kitchen.

The prices are very reasonable for the quality. The set menu comes with rice, salad, and pickled vegetables. The set drinks menu has alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. Japanese tea is also offered as a service, which is a nice touch. Kushiro Fukutei Kateirou is definitely a great restaurant to check out!

Machino Sushi Shiki restaurant is part of the Hanamaru company which is a famous chain of sushi bars and restaurants. Machino Sushi Shiki is located in Paseo and is one of three Hanamaru sushi bars in Hokkaido. There are 2 options for your order, the set menu or the plate menu. The set menus include a lunch menu of 10 pieces of sushi with a mussel soup, and egg pudding (recommended), or the shrimp soba noodles set, or the mixed set of salmon eggs, soup, and sea urchin on rice.

The other option is to order individual plates. Each plate has 2 pieces of sushi per plate. The prices are much higher at around ¥350 per plate, up to ¥650 a plate. For those wishing to sample different kinds of sushi, the other Hanamaru kaiden (sushi train) restaurants are a cheaper option. Machino Sushi has a large drinks menu, including beer, cocktails, and sake. There is counter seating as well as table seating for up to groups of 8. This restaurant caters for tourists but as a note, taking photos of the sushi is no problem BUT the sushi chefs do not like having their photo taken. Apart from that, enjoy the fresh sushi at Machino Sushi Shiki Hanamaru!

Chapeau Rouge (red hat) is a rice & omelette restaurant. Omelette & rice dishes, better known as ‘Om Rice’ is a popular dish in Japan. There are many kinds of ‘Om Rice’ restaurants throughout Hokkaido. Chapeau Rouge is a typical om rice restaurant which serves up omelettes & rice, with a garnish of some kind. It is a quick and easy spot to grab some lunch or dinner. The menu has many kinds of omelettes, including the herb chicken (pictured above), curry, hamburger patty, and the bacon & tomato omelette and rice.

Chapeau Rouge, has a set menu as well which includes a small green salad, and a cup of onion soup. There are also a couple of spaghetti dishes thrown into the mix as well. The dishes are very basic, as they are affordable, making Chapeau Rouge a quick and convenient spot to recharge the batteries whilst in the shopping district at Sapporo station.

Provence is a restaurant located next to Sapporo station in Paseo, which is 2 floors of various restaurants and coffee shops. Provence is based on French / Italian cuisine using olive oil from the south of France. Provence is part of company that owns a chain of restaurants throughout Japan. There are 7 other restaurants in Japan, with 1 being in Hokkaido, Sapporo. As there is plenty of seating, there are rarely long lines to get in for lunch or dinner which is a bonus.

Cafe & Dining Shelf is a western style restaurant that can be found in the Sapporo Parco department store on the 8th floor. The dining floor in Parco has 8 restaurants and the ‘Shelf’ restaurant can be found directly in the centre. It’s a large open restaurant surrounded by (as the name may suggest) shelves full of books and artifacts. There is a bar area, and tables set up for up to groups of 4. The menu has a set lunch & dinner menu that comes with a salad and drink. The plate (main) menu has options of chicken or beef paddy sets, that comes with vegetables, and a small salad. Good value for your money.

Cafe & Dining Shelf also has a curry set, and a salad menu. The kinds of salads include a teriyaki chicken salad, a 10 vegetable salad, and a delicious avocado & shrimp salad. The à la carte menu has french fries, spicy fried chicken, camembert cheese & potato fritters, smoked salmon, and pickles! If you still have room then the dessert menu won’t disappoint! Creamy cheese cake & blueberry cake, classic gâteau au chocolat, and rich crema catalana in a caramel sauce are deliciously pictured for your choosing. For those of you who have a sweet tooth, then ‘Shall We Sweets’ may be the place for you. Opened in 2009, Shall We Sweets is a buffet style restaurant / coffee shop / cake store located on the 8th floor of the Parco restaurant section. The name is inspired from the feel good Japanese cult movie “Shall we Dance?”. The sweets are made by pastry chefs, and are served buffet style so you can indulge into the sweeter things in life. This restaurant is a nice spot for tea, or coffee which has some seats with window views.
