The Brick Bar is a cool bar located on Sakura-Zaka street, in the heart of Niseko. It is just a two minute walk down from the main street and can be found among the many hostels found in that area. The inside was designed by the Niseko Photography & Guiding team, which is a local business situated under the Brick Bar, on the ground floor. The illustrations are by French artist, Primat. It is here, in these great surroundings, that you can enjoy a beer, a fine wine, or a delicious cocktail. All served by the friendly and helpful staff.

The selection of wines, both red & white, range from ¥600 to ¥1100 a glass, and for a bottle, ¥2400 to ¥4500. If you are looking for something a little more celebratory, then the Brick Bar also has Prosecco, Brut, and Moet & Chandon champagnes. For a slightly stronger drink, look no further than the cocktail menu. Here, you can find some fantastic cocktails, some with a Japanese twist to them, which are a must try! Sapporo Classic is on tap, plus there are some Japanese bottled ales to swig on after a day on the slopes. Of course, don’t forget ‘Happy Hour’ has ¥400 beer and shots! Open until late, the Brick Bar is a cozy bar to enjoy a good night out!

In Sapporo, located on the southern end of Susukino (the nightlife district), you can find the Stingray bar. It’s a cool bar sporting a retro look with early rock themes. They have a pool table, pinball machine and a duke box to rock out on. There is plenty of seating and standing room for small groups or large parties. Alternatively, pull up a stool at the counter, have a beer and chat to the friendly bar staff. Bar Stingray is located above ‘Studio 810’ which is a live house for bands.

Whenever a band has a gig at Studio 810, Bar Stingray will live feed it on their screens in the bar area, so you can enjoy a drink and get an idea of which band is playing downstairs. When it comes to the beer menu, they have Sapporo and Carlsberg on tap. Bottled beers include Budweiser, Corona, Heineken, Suntory, and Asahi. They also have Japanese sakes from around Japan, such as Lotus and Mitake to enjoy, plus wines and spirits. The food menu includes usual bar fare, including hamburgers, spicy tacos, and duck pastrami. There is a party plan, and Bar Stingray can be rented out for group parties.

Pantera Negra is a large bar and dining area that is a popular place for having a few drinks and food. Due to its large size, it is often hired out for after parties and wedding parties. The bar and restaurant is divided into two areas. On entering the premises, you can find the main dining space and bar to the left. Out the back area, the room is divided into two levels set out with plush couches, chandeliers, and rich burgundy curtains. During the summer, there is a small outside seating area. Whatever the area, you can enjoy an intimate drink on a date, or enjoy a party with friends.

The food menu has some delicious dishes from some diverse countries. For example, a Mexican barbecue, a Thai herb & beef rice, tandoori chicken, pizza & pastas, Indonesian fired rice, deer carpaccio, or quesadillas! The drink menu has all spirits, local and foreign and beers & wines. There is an all you can drink option here as well. During the summer at the start of August, the annual Susukino Festival can be seen. Starting in the late afternoon and continuing through until late evening, the festival runs for three days. The streets are closed off for parades, and for (of course) eating and drinking. On the first day of the festival you can see the Taiko drums which gets the festival underway. The second day you can enjoy local and international dance performances that move down the main street and really livens things up.

The final day sees a fitting end to the festival with portable shrines (Mikoshi) being carried down the main street by hundreds of locals. The traditional music and the chanting is a true spectacle and is a great opportunity to get some great photos. While all this is going on, the local bars and restaurants open up stall on the side streets. It is here you can enjoy some beer and some grilled food cooked up by the local owners. It does get crowded here and along the main street, so an early start is advised!

Peche Grand Sapporo serves as a coffee shop, a patisserie, a restaurant, a wine bar, or just as a spot to take a seat and relax. This restaurant & coffee shop can be found on the red brick plaza. The plaza is a beautiful tree lined road that leads to the Old Hokkaido Government Building. With outside seating during the warmer months, Peche Grand Sapporo is a great place to have a lunch or coffee. The food menu has a variety of quiche plates that come with bread, a pumpkin soup, and a delicious side dish of nuts with potato.
