Heidi Farm (ハイジ牧場) is a large countryside farm in Naganuma, Hokkaido. Surrounded by wide green fields and beautiful rural scenery, it is a relaxing place to experience farm life and meet a variety of animals. Visitors can see sheep, goats, horses, alpacas, rabbits, guinea pigs and other farm animals. One of the best things about Heidi Farm is that visitors can get close to the animals. There are activities such as feeding animals, making butter or ice cream, and seasonal experiences such as digging for potatoes. The farm also has a small train that travels around the grounds, making it easy to enjoy the scenery.

Located in Sapporo’s Higashi Ward at right near Yurigahara Park, Wada Coffee is a traditional Japanese coffee shop with a distinctive retro interior and a collection of antiques, ornaments and vintage objects. The café has a surprisingly substantial food menu. Choices include set meals and lunch plates, along with dishes such as hamburg steak, curry and lasagna. Past menus have also featured bacon-and-egg curry, tortilla pizza and pancakes. For something lighter, there are cake and dessert sets, including homemade-style sweets.
Coffee is naturally a main feature, with both hot and iced coffee available and different beans and monthly coffee selections appearing on the menu. A coffee and dessert set makes it a good option for an afternoon visit, while the larger meals make Wada Coffee equally suitable for lunch. Yuni Togakushi Shrine is a small rural Shinto shrine located in the Furusan district of Yuni, Hokkaido. Although little is known about its exact origins, it is believed to have been established during Hokkaido’s settlement period in the late 19th or early 20th century by pioneers who brought their faith from mainland Japan. Like many small community shrines, it was likely dedicated to protecting local families, ensuring good harvests, and watching over the growing farming community. Today, the shrine remains a quiet place of worship. It’s in a nice small park in Yuni next to the Furuyama Reservoir. A good place to walk around and picnic by.

Kuriyama Park is a peaceful recreational park in Hokkaido known for its seasonal beauty, open green spaces, and family-friendly atmosphere. The park is especially popular during spring when cherry blossoms bloom throughout the grounds, attracting visitors from nearby Sapporo and surrounding towns. In autumn there are stalls selling autumn produce plus there are pumpkins dotted around the park. There is a large steam train also as a permanent attraction. Inside the park is Nakayoshi Zoo, a small community zoo where children and families can interact with animals such as rabbits, ponies, deer, monkeys, and birds. The zoo’s relaxed environment, free admission, and hands-on experiences make it a charming destination for families and nature lovers. Together, Kuriyama Park and Nakayoshi Zoo offer a quiet and enjoyable escape from the city with walking trails, picnic areas, and opportunities to experience Hokkaido’s natural scenery.
