Bic Camera is a famous electronics store that it is part of a chain of stores that have multiple locations all over Japan. There is one in Hokkaido which is located right next to Sapporo station and JR Tower. Not only does Bic Camera sell electronics and cameras, but it also sells home appliances, toys, and other outdoor and indoor goods. This store is extremely popular for tourists and is often busy, due to this store being tax free. Bic camera will also deliver bought items to hotels and the airport if needed! The store caters especially to overseas travelers. Some of the many staff are multilingual and the announcements are made in various languages.

Fresh produce

Rusutsu is famous for its ski field, resort and the outlying farmlands. These farm lands produce a large variety of fresh and delicious vegetables. Rusutsu is especially famous for its daikon (radish), asparagus (green, white & purple), and potatoes. Fresh vegetables of the season are delivered directly to Farmers’ Market, making it a popular place to buy groceries for a cheap price! This supermarket is connected right next to Rusutsu Pizza Do, so it’s also a good spot to grab some lunch.

Flowers on sale

The selection is quite vast, and each product is brought in by individual farmers. Anything from celery to chili peppers, every product has a picture of the farmer and information about them. It would be hard to find a better bargain in Hokkaido than at Farmer’s Market. Prices for cabbages, pumpkins, onions can be as little as ¥100, so there are many bargains to be found. Not are there vegetables to be found, but there are soups, seasoning, an assortment of breads, and flowers.

Forever 21 is a tax free retail store which is an added bonus, plus throughout the year there are bargains and sales which occur regularly so you can pick up a real bargain. Clothing  and other accessories can be found for as little as ¥300 each! The changing rooms, with full length mirrors, can be found on the 2nd floor, for any help just see the friendly staff. Forever 21 is easily located on the main street, known as “Eki Mae Dori”,  which runs through the center of Sapporo. It is a popular clothing store for tourists and also for locals.

Hakkenzan WineryHakkenzan Winery is located at the foot of Mt. Hakkenzan and was opened in 2011. This pleasant winery sits beautifully in its surroundings with views of the surrounding areas. The winery has 3 vine fields that cultivates more than 25 varieties of grapes. This winery produces some fantastic wines including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnays, to name a few. This winery’s motto is “Wine is made in the field, and the grapes want to be wine”.

Hakkenzan Winery

The Hakkenzan Winery not only has delicious wines, but they are also involved in researching and processing locally grown fruits in the local area, so they also produce and sell cider and fruit jam. These are sold in a small shop at the winery. Locally produced arts and crafts are also sold here. There is a balcony overlooking the vine field and gardens where you can sit and admire the view. Along with the balcony and shop, there is a small viewing area so you can see how they make their wines.
 




The Hakkenzan Winery is in a fantastic area and is a nice trip all year round. In the area, there are park golf courses, horse riding clubs. Mt Okesan for climbing, and the Jouzankei Hot Springs are only 10 minutes away by car. There is a lot to do so you can really make a day of it!

Mitsui Outlet Park has numerous amenities to make your shopping experience more enjoyable. There is a food court with seating for 650 people, with plenty of foods to choose from! Space 1-15 was originally a residential building called, “Château le Rêve” (Castle of Dreams). A soap dealer decided to open one shop in one of the rooms. Since that simple beginning, Space 1-15 has blossomed into unique building in which every room has become a small shop, run by store owners and artisans. Space 1-15 features around 20 shops from the second to the fifth floor, including cafés, clothing shops, sundries, art books, used records, and artisans’ workshops. A little oasis for art and design lovers alike!

To get into the building you will need to be buzzed in. Simply choose one of the many shop intercom buttons and they will happily let you in. Once inside, there is an elevator or steps to access the shops. The beauty of Space 1-15, is that each shop has been refurbished from the same size apartment, so its interesting to go from room to room and see each style and design. Space 1-15 also organizes seasonal events such as morning markets and summer festivals.
