Tasuku Soba is a popular soba restaurant in the eastern district, Hiragashi, in Sapporo. It is a small restaurant but well known to the locals in this area. You can find some great soba meals that are perfect for lunch. The lunch sets here are really cheap and you can fill up for an affordable price! These set meals range from ¥680 to ¥980. There are different types of extras that come with the soba meal, such as a side dish of tempura. Extras can be added onto the soba bowl for a few extra yen. Customers receive a welcome buckwheat tea to sip on from the friendly staff while going over the menu.

On the drive from Sapporo to Hirafu, Rusutsu and Toya, there is a rest stop at the top of Nakayama Pass. The rest stop is a good stop to take a break, buy a souvenir, grab a quick local snack, or enjoy the magnificent view looking out at Mt. Yotei. On the ground floor in the main building here you can pick up some small take away food. This includes ageimo (potato deep fried in batter), fried chicken, imomochi (sticky potato cake) and ice-creams. If you are looking for something more substantial, there is a great restaurant on the next floor up. Cheap and delicious, this restaurant has large glass windows with fantastic views.
The restaurant is affordable and the food here is really really good! If you want something more filling it is worth it. There is a huge range of lunches available. You can find ramen, soba noodles, tempura, a butadon (pork on rice), and some good black curries. The menu is displayed with large photos on the wall, too easy. With plenty of seating, you can find a seat anytime. Apart from the restaurant, there is a small photo gallery on the next floor up, with panoramic views of the mountain. Local photographers have some beautiful work of the surrounding landscape. Take a seat, have a coffee and take it all in.

While in the scenic town of Furano there are a few restaurants around to check out. Across from the souvenir and food plaza called Furano Marche you can find Suzukake. Suzukake is a nice restaurant that serves up some delicious Japanese dishes using fresh produce from the surrounding areas. There is a nice selection of vegetable and meat dishes plus some succulent seafood dishes which is what Hokkaido cuisine is famous for. This restaurant has seating for couples and small groups. For larger parties, there is a private room that can be hired out plus a special set menu.

The extensive menu has various Japanese cuisine such as tempura, soba noodles, nigiri sushi, shrimp and cutlet curries, a Furano pork dish, grilled fish, and a delicious Furano vegetable and omelette curry. The servings are large and will please any customer. If you are looking for something to go with your meal, then Suzukake has an equally extensive drink menu. Local beers, sochu, whiskey and a dozen sakes from Hokkaido are all on the menu. Soft drinks are also available. While in Furano, and looking for a Japanese lunch or dinner, Suzukake is a great option.

If you are looking for some Japanese cuisine, Kasyunan is a Japanese restaurant that primarily concentrates on soba and udon noodles plus other Japanese side dishes. The restaurant is located on the sixth floor of the popular shopping mall, called Stellar Place. With plenty of seating, and with its extensive menu, Kasyunan is a good choice for lunch or dinner. Tendon Tenya is a delicious and cheap choice for those looking for some Japanese cuisine. This is a popular spot, especially for those looking to get a quick lunch. As it a busy restaurant, it suitable for only small groups of up to three or four. The menu focuses on mainly tempura and noodles. The tempura menu has shrimp, squid, fish, pumpkin, mushroom, and okra. These tempura bowls come in big or small. Alternatively, you can get a tempura set meal with a soup, plus a small bowl of udon noodles or soba noodles.

Fukuzumi is a soba restaurant that is set out in a traditional Japanese setting. Soba is a traditional thin buckwheat noodle served either hot or cold. Fukuzumi serves up some delicious Japanese dishes with soba noodles as a set dish. The menu comes in Japanese with pictures, as well as an English menu that has information about Soba noodles.
