LocationThis restaurant can be found in central Sapporo and is part of the Nijo Market. To get here, the market is on the east side of the Tanuki Koji shopping arcade. It's a walkable distance from anywhere in central Sapporo. For those outside of Sapporo, get off at Odori subway station. From here it is a 3 minute walk.

You can’t get much fresher seafood then at a seafood market! Ta Ke E Sushi is located in Sapporo and is in the Nijo Market. The market is in central Sapporo across from the Tanuki Koji Shopping arcade. There are a few very small restaurants here where sightseers and locals alike can go shopping for seafood and sample some fresh produce. The seating numbers here are tiny, of usually up to five places. But if the restaurant is full, then you will be given a time to during the day to come back. The menu here is a little expensive but still very affordable. You can enjoy all kinds of seafood here but the sushi is recommended. They have sea urchin, crab and scallops you can grill as part of the menu. You are eating on small tables on the sidewalk and get a real great experience. In winter they have small fires to keep you warm. 

Ta Ke E Sushi is recommended if you are looking for a real sushi experience. Not only are you getting the freshest sushi but you are dining in a real Japanese fish market. This is a great experience for tourists whilst visiting Sapporo

Kentucky Fried Chicken first came to Japan in 1970. The franchise began from an experimental store that opened up in March 1970. The first Kentucky Fried Chicken store opened officially in Nagoya in November of the same year. Since then the franchise has opened 1200 stores nationwide. The system is the same as other countries with dine in or take away options. There is also a drive through option with a lot the stores. You can enjoy your favorite meals here. The taste is the same and you can pay via cash or card is now accepted. In Japan, Kentucky Fried Chicken is hugely popular with Christmas and is the go to Christmas Eve dinner for most families. You can find a Kentucky store in every main town throughout Hokkaido. The ordering is simple and the menu will have an english translation with each picture. Since 2024 the stores have introduced a self ordering system on a touch panel in the store making it even easier for tourists. Even here in Japan, you can enjoy the original taste of Kentucky as you did back in your home country.

Seikarou is located in the popular large shopping complex in Sapporo, named Factory. Seikarou is a small ‘anman’ take out restaurant in the food court area of Factory. Anman is a soft steamed hot bun filled with either sweet or savory ingredients. Namely minced pork fillings or sweet red bean paste. At Seitarou, the most popular anman seems to be the spicy miso pork bun! Other types of anman buns include beef, shrimp, and crab. All of these delicious goodies are only a few hundred yen each. It’s a good idea to get in early when a fresh batch has just been cookedd up in the large bamboo pots. Once they are ready though, a line quickly forms so get in quick. A couple of anman are a great warm snack to enjoy during a day of shopping. They also have coffee here. And as a bonu, you can keep your food ticket after ordering and get a discount at the Sapporo Factory cinema, United Cinemas.

This is a great coffee shop in the north west of Sapporo. Cafe Morita Coffee serves as a coffee shop, restaurant, and as a small gifts store. This coffee shop uses freshly ground coffee beans. These coffee beans can be purchased at the store in packets of 100grams. There are three kinds of coffee beans to choose from. You can order up to a kilogram of coffee beans but you have to pre order first. The coffee here is pretty good! Apart from coffee you can also have tea. So, thats for drinks but Cafe Morita has a lot more to offer. As soon as you enter the coffee shop there is a small goods area on the left. You are welcome to peruse at your leisure and find some small goods to purchase if you find something you like.

Apart from the shop and coffee one of they have some hearty food here. Cafe Morita Coffee has some great dishes on their menu. Their big recommendation is the “Spicy Curry”. The curry will cost you ¥1000 and is a tomato based curry that is served with rice and chapati. The three spice levels range from normal to very spicy. Keeping with the spicy theme, there is a ‘Khao Pad’ which is a spicy Thai rice, a curry porridge called ‘Calcutta Guru. For something not spicy, try the ham and cheese hot sandwich or the bacon and eggs. A recent addition to the menu is some sweets and cakes which can be taken home.

LocationThis small store is located in central Susukino. It's a 3 minute walk south from Susukino subway station. It can be found on the main road on the left coming from the station.

This is a very popular store in the heart of Susukino, Sapporo. It is a late night place that is very popular with late night revelers. This store sells amnan. Anman is a hot bun filled with various ingredients. At Saryo you have a choice of fillings that include beef or pork. These are only a few hundred yen and will satisfy any customer on their way home or stopping off for a quick bite. They are steaming hot and the front of the store is usually has steam coming off from the bamboo containers. This makes for a great photo opportunity too, especially in winter! They also have vegeterian options with the red azuki beans. This is open until 5:00 in the morning making it a very convenient place on the way home.

Izakaya Yukari is a very cheap place to grab a simple lunch or dinner. They have many classic Japanese dishes on the menu. This restaurant is pretty basic and is part of the Tiara Hotel. This makes it a convenient spot especially for those staying around the area. The hotel and restaurant is on the southern edges of Susukino and is between Susukino and Nakajima Park. It is open until late on Fridays and Saturdays. You can eat here before heading out for a day of activities or after coming home after a  night out.

On the menu have they Japanese dishes such as kurage (fried chicken), soba noodles, udon noodles, tempura, and curries plus many more so they have  good range of foods. Lots of finger food too and lunch sets. These sets come with miso soup and a salad. In terms of drink, they have teas and soft drinks plus beer.  You won’t be looking at any more than ¥1000 to ¥1500 for a drink and a meal making this place a bargain for the money.
