It is open for lunch and all through until late evening, for dinner. Ouchi opened originally in 2002 and not only sells fine soup curry, but they also have western style cuisine and some delicious desserts (which you usually don’t find at other soup curry restaurants). The soup curry’s base is made with stewed pork born, chicken and plenty of vegetables with more than 20 kinds of spices added into the mix.
The menu is large. First, let’s take a look at the soup curries that they have to offer. There are nine soup curries on the menu. Their specialties include ‘Chicken or Pork with 16 vegetables curry’ , ‘Furano Pork Hamburger soup curry’ , a ‘Nato Curry’, and a nice ‘Hokkaido Roasted Cacho Cavallo and bacon soup curry’ (title picture). At this soup curry restaurant you have a choice of three soup base flavors, spicy, prawn, or an onion flavor curry. Their other menu includes pastas, pizzas and salads! Their dessert menu is also extensive. If you want to enjoy a party here, they have a party plan that comes with an all you can drink option at ¥2500.

Kaitakuya Tavern is one of those cool, old school Japanese izakayas that has rustic charm. It is located in the heart of Sapporo with its windows facing the popular Odori Park. It is an easy spot to access, and is a good izakaya to stop in and grab a beer. The food that comes on the menu is your basic izakaya food. Simple is best! Kaitakuya has some great kushiyaki on the menu. Kushiyaki being grilled meat or vegetables on a bamboo skewer. Whether it be pork, beef, chicken or vegetables. Goes well with any beer.
Of the many side dishes, the menu also has seafood on its plates. The lightly fried shrimp is especially good. The beer is on tap, and it flows whether on a summer day, with the open doors, or during a cozy winter. Other drinks include spirits such as whiskey, sake, or wine. There is a ‘nomihodai’ option (all you can drink). This option applies to beer and cocktails. If you really want to experience a Japanese style izakaya, Kaitakuya Tavern is a nice option. It is also near many of the sightseeing spots of Sapporo, so drop in for a drink!

The coffee beans are house roasted and the coffee is brewed using the ‘flannel drip method’. This traditional Japanese method of drip coffee uses fabric rather than a paper filet. Using this method, with the coarse coffee beans create a stronger flavor. Miyakoshiya is primarily just a coffee shop. They have blended coffees, espressos, teas, cocoa, and juices. Their food menu is only small. They have cookies and cakes, plus toast to accompany your beverage. The toast is large and the toasted cheese is quite good!
