Ukimido Park is a great sightseeing spot and a good place to get some photos on the shores of Lake Toya. The park can be easily recognized by its stone sculptures and its small outcrop where the iconic shrine is located. The shrine, surrounded by the tranquil waters of Lake Toya make for a great photography opportunity, in any kind of season. The shrine is only a five minute walk from the main car park, which is located on the northern side of lake.

The park has paths that intertwine making for a pleasant walk through the warmer months. The park, as with most of the parks around Lake Toya, has large sculptures arranged around its grounds. The small island that the shrine is on, was once part of a hill that was formed when the caldera was formed 110,000 years ago. Ruins from this period, known as the Jomon period, can be found around this small island! The large car park that sits right next to the park has plenty of spaces so parking is not a problem.

Seafood and noodles
Located in the Factory Shopping Complex, Ebisu Tei Chinese restaurant is part of the restaurant section that can be found on the B1 floor. The restaurant area can be found right next to the ‘Atrium’ which is the main hub of Factory. At Ebisu Tei, after a days shopping and taking in the sights you can enjoy some cheap and delicious Chinese cuisine here. They have reasonable prices and the lunch menu is a popular choice! The set meals come with a small salad, and egg soup, and some pickled vegetables to go with your main meal.

Fried vegetables
Ebisu Tei Chinese restaurant has a good selection of Chinese dishes on its menu. They have pork and beef dishes as well a soups, noodles, chili dishes, fried chicken, and vegetable dishes. There are two extra set meals, one that comes with and additional ramen bowl, and the most expensive set that also throws in a dessert plus the other extras already mentioned. The ramen here is recommended. The drink menu has tea, soft drinks and beer. While at Factory and looking for some Chinese cuisine, then this restaurant is a good option, especially if you’re on a budget!

Beautiful old architecture
Factory Renga-Kan is a part of the shopping complex, known as ‘Sapporo Factory’, which is made up of four large buildings. Built originally in 1876 as the Sapporo Pioneering Beer Brewery, the Factory complex is now used as a shopping centre, for a place to dine, and to take in a piece of history in the Sapporo area. The Renga-Kan is located on the western side of Factory, and is a short walk across the courtyard from ‘the atrium’. The Renga-Kan, which literally translates to ‘Brick Museum’ is a three story building that is perfect for shopping for arts & crafts, a photographic spot, and for some fine dining.

The brewery observation hall
The first floor has kids park, the Sapporo Kaitakushi Brewery where you can observe the brewing process. Right by this brewery is a tasting room, where you can taste some traditional Sapporo beers and a great spot for tourists! On this floor you can also find four restaurants, plus a wine cellar with some fantastic wines! The ‘La Brique’ is a gorgeous French restaurant that is attached to the wine cellar. ‘Terzina Trattoria Pizzeria’ is an Italian restaurant and there is a fresh produce restaurant and market called ‘Fresh Factory’. Last but not least is the beer hall, with some hearty meals and beer!
Shopping area
Where the first floor is for feasting, the second floor is for shopping. Here, through the beautiful old hallways and creaking floorboards you can find an array of arts and craft shops. You can also watch the artists creating their works in their small workshops in the stores. There is jewelry , toys, woodwork and metal work on sale. There is also a furniture store, and an Iranian carpet store with some fantastic wares. The third floor is made up of photographic studios plus a ceramic workshop, kids school, and a theatre academy school.

Spicy chicken & vegetables
Kopi Tiam is a Singaporean style restaurant that can be found in central Sapporo. It is part of the Tanuki Koji arcade that is one of the main hubs for tourists. This restaurant is a very popular bar and reservations are needed especially for groups! With its design and menu and drink list, its a collective fusion of south east Asian influences. You can enjoy some spicy dishes all the while swigging on Singaporean beer such as Tiger beer. At Kopi Tiam you can order set meals or order individually.

Mee Goreng
There is an extensive menu of spicy goodness. You can enjoy some great Singaporean dishes such as ‘Mi Rebus'(noodles in a curry sauce), ‘Mie Goreng'(spicy noodles), Bak Kut Teh which is a pork rib dish cooked in broth, or Sambal Kang Kong (spicy vegetable dish). They also have dumplings, soups, fried rice, and of course chicken satay sticks! Apart from Tiger beer, this restaurant has an imported bass pale ale, as well as a San Miguel Beer. Kopi Tiam also has an all you can drink party plan that is about ¥4000 per person. For a Singaporean flavor while in Japan Koi Tiam is a unique restaurant in Sapporo.

Sushi train location
Toriton Sushi is a successful chain of restaurants that can be found throughout Hokkaido, primarily in Sapporo. There are four sushi restaurants and two sushi conveyor belt restaurants, also known as kaiten-zushi restaurants, in the Sapporo area. Hokkaido is famous for its seafood and the sushi here is no exception! When looking for a sushi restaurant, Toriton is a great choice. Delicious red caviar (ikura)
As with all kaiten-zushi restaurants, you pay by the plate, with two pieces of sushi per plate. For sushi restaurants you can order more by pieces. The plate prices range from ￥120 to ￥650 per plate, so you can play it cheap or indulge a little for those high end sushi pieces. They also have noodles and some fried chicken which is a nice option as well. The hot green tea is free, and goes well with your Japanese cuisine experience. If you are looking for something a little stronger, they have beer as well as sake.

Delicious
Fugetsu is part of a huge chain of Okonomiyaki stores that are found throughout Hokkaido. For more details on the various locations in Sapporo, you can find them here at Fugetsu Okonomiyaki is a Japanese dish of a savory batter mixed with your choice of ingredients. These usually include eggs and shredded cabbage, green onion, meat (generally thin pork belly, often mistaken for bacon), octopus, squid, shrimp, vegetables, konjac, mochi or cheese.

Side dish of sausages
As with other okonomiyaki restaurants, you can cook it yourself on the hotplates that are in the restaurant. Simply order your ingredients, and then mix them in the bowl. After making a thick paste, pour it onto the hotplate and cook both sides, like a pancake. Simply top it of with fish flakes, mayonnaise, and shaved green dried seaweed. Beer and soft drinks are available to go with. Located in Asabu, (the last stop on the Nanboku line) its an easy restaurant to find for a nice lunch or late dinner. Enjoy!
