Il Chianti was founded back in 1972 and over its long history has established a successful chain of restaurants throughout the whole of Japan. There are around fifty stores in the country. In Hokkaido, there is only one, and that can be located in the heart of Sapporo. It is directly across from Odori park. The restaurant has comfortable outside seating with views of the park and down the street. It is part of the Resol Trinity Hotel, so it is the go to for guests who stay there whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The lunches here are really good and really affordable. You definitely get your money worth here. The lunch menu has a choice of around five large dishes plus a buffet salad, soup, and a drink. This will put you back around ¥1000. As this restaurant is such a large space, reservations are available for parties. There are three different party plans to choose from. these include an all you can drink plan. Il Chianti has some good wines that go well with your meal. The food here is primarily Italian plus a few extra western dishes thrown onto the menu.

On the fourth block of the Tanuki Koji Shopping Arcade, you can find a nice little Indian restaurant. It is on the second floor, next to the Mega Don Quihote shopping mall. Jyoti serves not only as a restaurant but they have extra activities available such as yoga, and also astrology! You can find all your favorite Indian dishes on their menu. For lunch, there are five different lunch sets to choose from that come with naan or rice, a salad, tandoori chicken and two curries. These sets also come with your choice of drink. The dinner menu is extensive and comes with an assortment of dishes, naans, and rice.
For those who are in groups there is the option of selecting a party plan, from which there are five to choose from . These delicious sets include curries, side dishes, naan bread, salads, dessert, and drinks. Naturally, the bigger the set, the more expensive. Unique to this restaurant is that they offer yoga classes. On Saturdays before opening, the classes are held in a cozy space for up to five people. Everything is supplied and after you can enjoy a vegetarian curry. Indian astrology is said to be the origin of astrology, and it can help guide you through life. Jyoti offers astrology sessions for 1 hour. They provide mantras for results from the planets. To construct a chart, you are required the exact date, time and place of birth. Two session folloing for 30 minutes are free.

Bariki-ya Ramen has a couple of stores in Sapporo. Their most prominent store being right next to the popular Yodobashi Camera electronics store. The ramen here is your basic ramen layout. They have an ordering machine at the entrance of the restaurant. This ordering machine is only in Japanese but they do have pictures so you can simply click on the picture after putting the money in. The extras (including the lunch set), and drink menu are not pictured so you may need help translating if you can’t read Japanese.

The ramen here is your basic ramen. They have the miso ramen, salt ramen, or soy sauce ramen bowls. These are the common base flavors of all ramen shops. The extras that can be ordered for your soup bowl include boiled egg and strips of nori (dried seaweed). These ingredients really add to the flavor making for a nice lunch or dinner. Ramen shops are generally quite small and narrow. This goes for Bariki-ya Ramen as well, so if you have a large group, it can be a little difficult to fit everyone in. If you can, this is a nice little ramen store.

This soup curry restaurant can be found in central Kutchan which is by the Niseko skiing resorts. Kutchan is a country town and it is here, Markie Curry gets its fresh ingredients. The vegetables that go into their curries are supplied by local farmers plus Markie Curry has its own farm to grow fresh vegetables. This makes up the back bone of soup curries. Markie Curry also has its own secret spice recipe making for a delicious curry. There is seating for twenty, plus you can order ahead and they provide a delivery service which is a bonus (especially for cold winter months!).
The menu (also in English) is easy to follow. First, choose your meal from eight different soup curries. Second, choose your soup flavor. Markie Curry has a prawn base, coconut base, original base, and vegan base soup! Third, choose your spice level which ranges from zero to fifteen. There are kids meals here to by the way, that aren’t spicy for the little ones. Fourth, choose your rice size. Lastly, choose any extra toppings you would like. These topping range from an extra ¥100 to ¥300. For drinks they have lassies, coffees, juices, and beer. Too easy. Enjoy!

Handmade Udon Kineya can be found in the underground Apia Food Walk section. It is just a quick walk from either Sapporo station or Sapporo subway station. This udon restaurant (hence the name) is unique as the udon noodles here are handmade right in the store window. You can watch how the udon noodles are made by the master chef there! This makes for a great photo opportunity for those traveling from other countries. The staff here are really nice, and they have English ability. With the English menu, it is easy to order your meal.
The food here is really good and if you are traveling from overseas, this restaurant is a really good experience of Japanese culture. On entering, customers will get a hot cup of green tea. It’s nice to sip on while perusing the menu. The menu has a lot of udon noodle dishes that come with different Japanese foods. The tempura udon is especially nice! All dishes come with pickles and a nice miso soup. There are about a dozen great udon noodle soups to choose from that come with a variety of ingredients. This is a great restaurant to try!

Between Sapporo station and Sapporo subway station there are many restaurants and shopping centres. One of these being the Apia shopping area. Apia has the food walk area. It is here you can find the Wan Zhu Ji Chinese restaurant. This restaurant is a good spot for some nice Chinese food and is reasonably priced whether it be for lunch or for dinner. There is plenty of seating so it’s also suitable if you’re with a group of friends or family. The list of dishes is displayed out the front, so even though the menu has an English translation, you can quickly find what you’re looking for.
Wan Zhu Ji is part of a company called the ‘Kiwa Group’. This company also has another Chinese restaurant in Sapporo, called Ren Ren Ren Chinese Dining. Both restaurants have similar menus. There are around fifty different dishes to select so there is definitely something for everyone. Wan Zhu Ji also has a value set option of six sets to choose from. These sets come with a main dish, rice, fried chicken side dish, and a soup. Great value! This restaurant does serve alcohol, and they do have an all you drink option as well for parties.
