Mos Burger is a huge fast food restaurant chain that is second only to MacDonalds in Japan. It first opened its stores back in 1972, and now has stores overseas in half a dozen countries including Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, and South Korea. The ‘Mos’ in Mos Burger stands for Mountain, Ocean, and Sun. In Hokkaido there are hundreds of stores throughout, with at least one store in every main city and town. The burgers at Mos Burger are pretty simple and are a favorite for locals who enjoy dropping in for a quick meal.

The menu at Mos Burger is written in English as well as Japanese, and you’ll find most of the staff have some English ability. The burgers here cost slightly more than other fast food restaurants but they have a large menu range. There are twenty different types of burgers including beef, chicken, seafood, and pork. They have an interesting salad burger which has a lettuce wrap instead of burger buns which is unique to Mos Burger. They also have a soy burgers which are made with mainly soy protein. Side dishes include french fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets and fried chicken. Drinks include soda and milkshakes. Plus, there are kids toys that come with some of the sets.

In Sapporo, in the entertainment district of Susukino there is a cozy little restaurant that has a menu full of delicious dishes! The term ‘Dosanko’ is used for people born and raised in Hokkaido. The restaurant is quite small so it is not always easy to get a seat (especially for groups). It is run by two ‘dosanko’ staff who are very friendly and take a real pride in their food. For such a small restaurant, they really pack an extensive menu that will please any guest. The dishes are predominantly Italian, though they do have some French and Spanish thrown in for good measure.

The food menu has some great appetizers and snacks including home made pickles, plus olives, chicken liver pate, a cheese or salami platter, shrimp ahijo, and also a highly recommended beef served under a red wine stew. For more traditional Italian dishes, you can’t go wrong with their selection of pasta dishes. Plus they have risottos, and of course some pizza dishes. They serve up a mouth watering Chicken Genovese pizza. The drink menu has some delicious wines as well as beer, whiskey, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks. Dosanko Dining is a top spot for a date, or for small groups up to four where you can sip in some nice wine and enjoy a fantastic meal!

The town of Shimukappu is a small town found in central Hokkaido. It is a quaint town surrounded by low mountains and farmlands. It is on one of the main expressways that run through Hokkaido making the town a convenient place to stop in for a rest or supplies. In the centre of the town travelers can find the Shimukappu Shopping Mall as well as the culture centre. They are both located right next to each other. The shopping mall is full of small shops, information on the area, and a couple of restaurants.

The shops at the shopping mall sell local souvenirs including arts and crafts such as wood carvings and local produce. Why, walking around, why not purchase some of the local wines, fresh vegetables from the outlying farms, or take back some canned or bottled foods to eat at home! If you are stopping in for a quick bite, there is a nice little hamburg & curry rice restaurant to check out. They also have a bakery, plus an ice cream shop for those hot sunny days! And last but not least, there is a convenience store to stock up on supplies for a road trip. Enjoy!

The Forest Shopping Centre is convenient spot that can be found in the centre of Furano. In the city of Furano there are many great restaurants to visit, but if you are camping in one of the many campgrounds in the area and looking to stock up on some supplies, or even just some snacks for the road, then the Forest Shopping Centre is extremely convenient. The centre is made up of two stories. The ground floor is the main supermarket. It is here you can grab supplies and groceries. During the warmer months, they have a lot of local produce including delicious melons.

The top floor has a few stores including a Japanese restaurant. The restaurant, Shiki No Megumi, is a delicious place where you can stop in and have a delicious lunch after shopping. The menu includes some Japanese dishes of soba noodles, tempura, and seafood, all at a fair price. The Forest Shopping centre, also has an ATM on the ground floor which is very handy and can be set to English if need be. There is ample parking at the centre for 250 cars. Also, if you are looking for cooking gear, outside supplies, or even household items, there is a Homac right next door!
JoJo’s

NAC Niseko Adventure is a hugely popular outdoor adventure company. Their main building can be found in the centre of Niseko and it is here where you can find JoJo’s. JoJo’s is a restaurant and coffee shop that is a great place to sit down and enjoy a lunch, or dinner, with friends and family after a days activities whether it be summer or winter. On the menu they have some truly juicy hamburgers. They have an original, bacon & cheese, or a salsa burger to wrap your teeth around! They also have a taco & rice to try.

Of course, if you just want to relax, then take a seat and enjoy the coffees and teas. During the warmer months they have outside seating where you can take in the surrounding views. If you are in a group, JoJo’s has a course meals that are perfect for parties and gatherings (reservations required). These group plans include a seasonal course menu, a buffet style, an outdoor BBQ (from June to September 15), or an all you can drink plan that has beers and cocktails. If you have kids, they can enjoy the jungle gym, plus there is rock climbing and bouldering to try!

Furano Marche is a small plaza that is home to twenty different shops, eateries and restaurants. Furano Marche serves as a popular tourist spot where you can pick up some great souvenirs, buy some local produce to take home to the kitchen, or take a rest and enjoy a quick feed on some local popular fare. It is conveniently located in the centre of the small town of Furano, and is a stones throw away from Furano station, and Furano shrine. If you are driving in, there is ample parking to be found. Furano marche makes a great spot to include on your travels in the area.

Furano Marche is separated into two different sections, Furano Marche 1 and Furano March 2. They are located on two parallel blocks separated by a small road. Furano Marche 1 has an open plaza in the centre, whereas Marche 2 is a larger building complex. Furano Marche 1 includes a mouth watering burger shop, a cafe, a fresh bread store, a takoyaki (fried octopus snack) shop, a fruit juice counter, a local produce store and souvenir store. The larger building of Marche 2 has a flower store, local souvenir store, a rice ball eatery to take out, a local restaurant, a grocery store, a ramen restaurant, and an ice-sundae eatery.
