Salt Moderate is a dining bar in central Sapporo. Its main attraction is its oysters. If you are looking for seafood plus some western style meats and dishes, this is a good place to try. It can get busy on the weekends, so it’s better to reserve a seat or table. There kitchen here is open so you can see the busy cooks getting the tasty dishes ready. As we’ve said, the oysters here a good and fresh and you can order them individually or there are oyster platters available. These are served on beds of ice. There are different servings of oysters with different toppings, such as fish eggs, cheese, and a chili sauce. Fantastic!

There are many other great dishes here too! Steaks served on a wooden slab, hand made fries, avocado salads, plus a nice chicken dish. All this food is nicely presented by the relatively young staff here. To go with the food you can enjoy an all you can drink option. This goes for 90 minutes and includes beer. This place is good for small groups of up to four, or for couples to celebrate a birthday or on a date. This is a smoking establishment so be aware of you don’t like smoking. This definitely a place to visit again.

Genki Sushi is a huge chain of restaurants in Japan. The company was first established in 1968. The main purpose of the company was to bring sushi to the masses. And they have certainly achieved that goal. Genki Sushi has established over thirty sushi restaurants not only in Hokkaido but throughout the main island of Honshu. Genki Sushi stores have also popped up overseas! So, why is this chain of sushi restaurants so popular and become so successful? The answer lies in the cost and efficiency. You can a dozen plates of sushi and still keep the price around the ¥1000 mark. The sushi here is not as good as most sushi restaurants but it isn’t far off, so if you want a cheaper but still tasty sushi experience, Genki Sushi is a great option!

The sushi here is served in pairs and it is all the same price which is about ¥100 a plate. Ordering is done all by a touch screen so you don’t have to wait for a waitperson or the chef if he is busy. The touch screen has English, Chinese, and Korean translations. Beifutei is one of those bars that have an old atmosphere to it, like the inns of old. The interior is made up of dark wood which has seen many years. The leather couches that make up the dining booths are comfortable. These booths are perfect for small groups to enjoy some good beer and good bar food. There are tables out the back and there is ample counter seating. This bar is a late night bar and is usually quite full even in the later hours. The food here is a fusion of western bar food and Japanese noodles.

On the menu there are some fantastic dry noodle dishes. There are some spicy elements that can be enjoyed and these dishes really do go well with beer. Other dishes you can enjoy include are delicious fish and chips that pack an English style punch. The beer here flows well plus there are other drinks to be had. Wine and cocktails and spirits can all be enjoyed here at Beifutei. Being open until 3:00am on the weekends is very handy especially for those who don’t want the party to end. Mohan Dish has two restaurants in the city of Sapporo. They both have the same items on the menu. They have dozens of delicious Indian meals to enjoy and you will have no problem finding your favorite dishes. Mohan Dish has is open both for lunch and for dinner and each have their own special set meals. Over forty spices are used and selected to create the authentic taste of India. To go with the meal, they have a total of eleven different types of naan to mop up and dip into your curry.

The set meals include a choice of three side dishes. One being a naan set, another the rice set, and the third being a half and half including both. Spice levels range from mainly zero to five. If you want to go for a higher spice level, then you can talk to the staff. For large groups, you can opt for a party plan. | Location / Getting There | Otaru dream beach is about a 40 minute drive north west from Sapporo. A car is preferable. For those taking public transport, you need to take a train (Hakodate Line) to Otaru and get off at Hoshioki station. From there it is a 50 minute walk so a taxi would be better. There are two main beaches that the locals of Sapporo go to during the summer. One being Aso Beach Ishikari and the other is Otaru Dream Beach. Ishikari Beach is a quieter and more relaxing place to spend a summer day, where as Otaru Dream beach is a busier spot with more of a party atmosphere. This is mainly due to the fact there are more beach bars that line the sand. These bars serve as small places that serve food and BBQ supplies plus offering tables for beach goers to cook their own food. They also serve alcohol for those to enjoy.

The ‘beach bars’ are slightly run down and serve only as temporary bars and eateries for a couple of months. They are open until the evening and sometimes kick on until late at night. There is also the occasional beach party event. There is no real accommodation around this long beach but there is a camping ground on the beach. This costs around ¥1000 but if you come late, then you can avoid this. Also parking for cars is about ¥500 for the day. There are signs and collectors near the entrance. This beach is mainly for a younger crowd who enjoy the BBQs and although it is not a particularly clean beach, it is a fun beach. If you are looking for something quieter, Then Ishikari Beach is a better option.

Cafe Terzina is located in the The Nordic Winds Tobetsu road station. This building is designed in a European fashion, emulating Sweden which the town has a close friendship with. Within this large hall, you can find places to shop and a few places to eat. The other small eateries (Smile Cafe & Restaurant Ari) are for take away and smaller dishes. Cafe Terzina is a larger Italian restaurant with nice views over the farmlands through the large windows. It is a “relaxing environment in Sapporo but far enough away to forget the city”. Cafe Terzina serves up some well priced Italian pastas using seasonal ingredients from Tobetsu.

The restaurant is headed by a Japanese chef, who in 1991, moved to Venice, Italy. He is a big advocate of “Hokkaido Italian cuisine” using Hokkaido ingredients. The menu here has a great lunch menu which has three choices. A casual lunch which is a main dish with bread. The A course which also comes with an appetizer platter. And the B course which comes with the appetizer platter and a dessert. They have some nice pastas, plus a famed baked risotto. The desserts here are also have an Italian flair. You can find all this for under ¥2000 so it’s a good bargain. And after lunch, you can walk around the area and do a little gift shopping.
