Pantera Negra is a large bar and dining area that is a popular place for having a few drinks and food. Due to its large size, it is often hired out for after parties and wedding parties. The bar and restaurant is divided into two areas. On entering the premises, you can find the main dining space and bar to the left. Out the back area, the room is divided into two levels set out with plush couches, chandeliers, and rich burgundy curtains. During the summer, there is a small outside seating area. Whatever the area, you can enjoy an intimate drink on a date, or enjoy a party with friends.

The food menu has some delicious dishes from some diverse countries. For example, a Mexican barbecue, a Thai herb & beef rice, tandoori chicken, pizza & pastas, Indonesian fired rice, deer carpaccio, or quesadillas! The drink menu has all spirits, local and foreign and beers & wines. There is an all you can drink option here as well. The Hokkaido University Festival, also known as Hokudai-sai, is a three day event that is held at the start of June. It is a popular festival for the locals of Sapporo. The event allows the students to show the public their skills and cultural backgrounds. The event is actually compromised of ten festivals which are held down the main street of the campus in stalls, plus some of the surrounding buildings. One of the main attractions is the International Food Festival where you can sample foods from all over the world! These stalls are run by the international students attending the university.
Besides the International Food area, there are further stalls set up along the road. These stalls sell Japanese cuisine, and include games and events. There are student performances on stage, a rock festival, haunted house, and a cosplay event. Simply take a long stroll down the main road that runs through the campus and take in the sights and smells. The stalls run for a few hundred meters so there is a lot to see! The event starts during the first week of June and runs through the weekend. If you are in Sapporo around that time, make sure to put the Hokkaido University Festival into your schedule.

In Maruyama class, located on the 2nd floor of the shopping centre named Maruyama Class, are about half a dozen different restaurants to choose from. Sapporo Ramen Jikidenya is one of these restaurants. It is a ramen restaurant and has five different ramen bowls that are on their menu. The menu comes in English and each dish is pictured making it very convenient to order. The bowls of ramen come in the traditional flavors of miso, soy sauce, and salt ramen.

Sapporo Ramen Jikidenya also has a spicy ramen option with soy sauce or miso. The side dishes or toppings that go with your meal are cheap and can enhance the flavor. You can also upgrade your bowl to a larger size. Smaller dishes include a pork rice bowl with soft boiled egg, rice bowl with seasonal cod roe (fish eggs) and butter, spicy tofu, and boiled gyouza (dumplings). Juice and beer is available to drink plus the free water that comes with each table. Sapporo Ramen Jikidenya is a non smoking restaurant.

The area of Maruyama, located in west Sapporo, is a beautiful hilly suburb that leads up into the mountains. Throughout the residential there are some unique and cozy coffee shops that are the perfect place to enjoy tea, coffee & lunch in a nice atmosphere. Maruyama Cafe Saka Noue is one of the highest coffee shops up in the hills of Maruyama and has some nice views down over the area. Due to its location, the best way to get there would be to drive, or take a taxi from Maruyama subway station.

Maruyama Cafe Saka Noue has some delicious lunches on its menu. The menu is only in Japanese though there are pictures to help you choose. The lunch menu has a quiche set, a prosciutto and avocado muffin set, a keema curry, and a seafood gratin set. The coffee menu is extensive, as is the tea menu. With at least half a dozen teas to choose from, you can really enjoy a quiet cuppa. The lunch set comes with a salad and a drink which includes a tea or coffee or soft drink, which is well presented with an artistic flair.

There are three main parks in the city of Sapporo, Odori park, Nakajima park, and Maruyama Park. Completed in 1957, Maruyama Park (known as Maruyama Koen) is a popular park, and is a great sightseeing spot, as it is home to almost a dozen shrines of various sizes. The largest and most popular of these being Hokkaido Shrine. In its large area of 68 hectares, you can also find Maruyama Zoo plus Maruyama sports stadium and baseball field. The entrance to the hiking track up Maruyama can be found across from Maruyama Park.

The park is beautiful in all seasons, though it is most popular during the cherry blossom season at the start of May. With over 1500 sakura trees, thousands of locals flock to the park and enjoy the hanami (cherry blossom festival). The park is divided into two main parts, the main entrance can be found at the lower section. Taking the stone stairways up and under the huge torii (Japanese gate) will bring you to most of the shrines, the cherry blossom trees during spring, and Hokkaido Shrine, and Maruyama Zoo.
The park is a great spot to take a stroll, have a picnic, and take in the sights.The park contains virgin forest of various trees including Oak, Magnolia, Maple and Katsura (Japanese Judas tree). The park is a designated natural monument. and on the hillside of the park, there are giant Elm and Cypress trees.

Hokkaido is famous for its nature and its produce.
