Perch is a great homely coffee shop in Sapporo. It has been set up in one of the houses in area and serves not only as a cafe, but as a bar and also as an arts and crafts store! On the first floor there are comfortable chairs plus tables for larger groups, and a kitchen area where the friendly owner cooks up some nice lunches and homemade desserts. For lunch or dinners they have pastas, smoked sausages, and a delicious keema curry. There is also a selection of spirits and wines if you are looking for something stronger than coffee.

The desserts here are fantastic. The caramel pudding is homemade, as well as the cheesecake. Both are equally delicious and are the perfect accompaniment to a nice cup of coffee or tea. As well as the dining area, there is a tatami room as well that has some nice handmade crafts for sale. A nice little Japanese touch to the place. On the 2nd floor you can find some more items, handmade dolls and cups and saucers, plus Japanese memorabilia to purchase. Perch is a nice cafe/bar and is very affordable making it a good place for a quiet lunch or dinner or it even serves as a party venue for large groups if need be!

〒060-0005 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo Ward, Kita 5 Jonishi, 4 Chome-Apia B1F

The Aunt Stella brand comes from a kindergarten teacher in Pennsylvania, whose name was (you guessed it), Stella. Her fragrant and delicious cookies often won the village sweets contest. Her nephew continued the brand and the Aunt Stella flavor made its way to Japanese shores. Aunt Stella’s is great little restaurant/coffee shop/cookie shop that is part of the underground shopping complex, Apia. Apia is right under Sapporo station so it’s a busy area for shopping and having lunch. Aunt Stella is in the ‘foodwalk’ section as one of the first of many restaurants and coffee shops that can be found here.

Aunt Stella’s has an impressive chain of sixty stores around Japan. There is only one in Hokkaido and that happens to be right by Sapporo station. Here you can get a nice lunch or an equally good cookie! At this restaurant they have some very nice pasta lunch dishes. You can get a coffee and a cookie of your choice as part of the set. But the main attraction at this store is of course the cookies. There are over a dozen handmade cookies that can be eaten in store or taken home. Simply take your pick and then you can order a beverage to sit down and enjoy a nice coffee or tea with a friend.
