Cafe Terzina is located in the The Nordic Winds Tobetsu road station. This building is designed in a European fashion, emulating Sweden which the town has a close friendship with. Within this large hall, you can find places to shop and a few places to eat. The other small eateries (Smile Cafe & Restaurant Ari) are for take away and smaller dishes. Cafe Terzina is a larger Italian restaurant with nice views over the farmlands through the large windows. It is a “relaxing environment in Sapporo but far enough away to forget the city”. Cafe Terzina serves up some well priced Italian pastas using seasonal ingredients from Tobetsu.

The restaurant is headed by a Japanese chef, who in 1991, moved to Venice, Italy. He is a big advocate of “Hokkaido Italian cuisine” using Hokkaido ingredients. The menu here has a great lunch menu which has three choices. A casual lunch which is a main dish with bread. The A course which also comes with an appetizer platter. And the B course which comes with the appetizer platter and a dessert. They have some nice pastas, plus a famed baked risotto. The desserts here are also have an Italian flair. You can find all this for under ¥2000 so it’s a good bargain. And after lunch, you can walk around the area and do a little gift shopping.

Amalfi is a really great place to check out while experiencing the nightlife of Sapporo. During the summer months, this nicely designed bar and restaurant has an opening out onto the street, making it a comfortable space to wine and dine. Amalfi serves as a bar and as a dining space. They have some really delicious food here, but first let’s look at the drink menu. Quite affordable, the drinks are well presented and mixed to perfection by the professional staff. They have a huge cocktail menu including a popular fruit iced cocktail. They also have spirits on ice, and beer
[the_ad id=”4264″]
The food here is equally well presented. They have some really fantastic small dishes to nibble on and which compliments the drink. For oyster lovers, they have delicious fresh oysters on ice, plus dried tomatoes drizzled in olive oil, olives, and cheeses to name a few. If you are more peckish, Amalfi specializes in Italian cuisine. They have pastas and pizzas on the menu. There is counter seating for couples or for those on their own, plus there are booths for up to four people on one side of the bar, and out the back, there is more space for those wishing for a bigger party. Amalfi is definitely worth a visit if you are out of town. You won’t be disappointed.

Location | Various locations throughout Hokkaido. The Susukino location in Sapporo is a 4 minute walk south from the Susukino subway station and can be found in the Cyber Building. Please see the maps below for Sapporo location and at the end of the article for locations in Hokkaido. |
They have party plans that range from ¥3500 to ¥5500 and obviously the more expensive the more you get for your buck. They also have a ‘viking’ plan which is basically an all you can eat plan that costs around ¥4000 for around two hours. You can have yourself a nice little BBQ in the comfort of a restaurant. And what goes well with cuts of meat but beer. Here they have an all you can drink plan as well. So this place is good for parties and groups where the drink and food flows all round.
Gaja is a very popular chain of yakiniku restaurants throughout Sapporo and with another location in Obihiro as well. Yakiniku is a unique dining experience where the clientele grill (yaku) their own meats (niku) to their desired taste. The food is cooked on small hot grill that is heated via hot coals. Each grill is located in the center of the tables with an exhaust fan above (so the customers don’t get smoked out). These restaurants are popular for two reasons. First there is a large selection of meat that can be chosen. Different cuts of beef, plus pork, chicken and vegetables. Rice and a variety of sauces are also available.

If you love steaks, this place is a must. This restaurant is a fantastic place to celebrate a special occasion, or if you are traveling to Japan, then this a great Japanese experience to enjoy and remember. This is a ‘teppanyaki’ restaurant which means you get to watch your own personal chef working their magic. Everything is cooked right in front of you and there is a certain flair to the dishes so make sure to bring your camera! There are various set dishes to order that include a meat cut plus vegetables and dessert.
These set meals are not cheap but the cost is worth it. The meat here (especially the steaks) are succulent and melt in your mouth. The beef here is Tokachi black beef and has been carefully selected. The steaks here have beautiful marbling and you won’t find a better steak. These can be enjoyed with salt, wasabi, or a handmade mustard. The seats each come with a single chef so you need to book in. Private rooms fit up to seven people. This restaurant is definitely high on the list of dining experiences. There is parking within the hotel (free for the first 2 hours), or the restaurant is not a far walk from Susukino subway station.

Delhi Curry is an iconic restaurant that can be found on the first block of Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade. It is also right next to Soseigawa Park, making it a convenient restaurant to grab some take away and eat in the park. It’s familiar store front is well known to many locals living in Sapporo. Delhi curry has been in the arcade for over thirty decades. It is run by the same elderly couple that have delivered countless curries over the many years. There is enough seating for 15. With its homely interior and tiled floor, it is reminiscent of an old movie.
On the surface, the curries here look simple with the bare minimum of ingredients, but don’t let that fool you. The dishes here pack a good flavor and are quite delicious. The soup here goes well with the serving of rice that comes with it. Based on Indian curries, as the name suggests, Delhi has a dozen or so curries to choose from. One drawback however is that the menu is written only in Japanese and has no pictures. If are a traveller, it is recommended that you know some Japanese or have a way to translate the menu if you wish to dine here. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.
